Clean comedy is difficult, but not impossible. Take Bill Cosby and Sinbad for example. Neither of them have ever used foul language, or told stories that are off-color, and they're great! Margaret Cho on the other hand...I would've walked out on her 'performance' if my friend would've given me the keys to her car!
It takes a lot of time & effort to put together a show that doesn't use base language or inferred content. That's probably more work than your local club acts are willing to put into their routine.

Agree with you on your question. Could not get into the article for some unknown reason. However, I think there is more humour in actions and wordplay than vulgarity. Clean is good.

Bill Cosby, Sinbad, Rita Rudner, and Wendy Liebman are comedians I have heard who didn't use profanity in their comedy routines, but were incredibly funny. Most comedians I like tend to use profanity i.e Chris Rock.It doesn't over power his comedy. I have seen comedians who were all profanity and no humor and trust me, that is just wrong. As long as the profanity doesn't become the main source of the routine, it doesn't bother me. Carlin, Pryor, Murphy......there you go.

I honestly don't see anything good about vulgar comedy. I mean slightly dirty or gross jokes can be funny but cursing is deathly annoying. Carlos mencia is sooooo stupid, how in the world did he get his own show? it's just like "Cuss cuss cuss cuss cuss cuss cuss *joke* "
I like bryan regal and jim gaffigan, and conan o' brian.

Because human beings are perverse and peing perverse creatures of a perverse nature, we tend to like such things... if you dont like it then you dont have to listen, go to or watch. it's all a matter of free will and choices, you choose to do what you want, other ppl choose to do what they want. so do what you want.
