It depends: does the man have children from a former marriage? If not, then maybe the age of the mother is not a factor; in fact, he may share a desire to have children. If he does have children from a former marriage, he may be reluctant to have children again just because that whole financial cycle starts all over again just as one is ending (saving for college, all the expenses of children).
It really depends on what the man wants to begin with. If he's reluctant, it's going to be a difficult job selling him on the idea.
There are men who waited to marry and do want to have kids.

late 30s is still okay, but after 40 no, I think it should be illegal for women after 42, for men after 52.
