I am not happy with the way I look and lack confidence. Some things I can change and I am doing so, but some things I will just have to live with. I do care about the impression I make on people and looks can play a big part in that. I probably care too much about what others think. I will listen to others' opinions and then make my own judgement. Clothes and fashion is about individual preference, and everyone is different. Clothes are more than protective covering; they advertise all sorts of things like interests, status, job, and even how people feels about themselves to the world. I love people watching and seeing what different people wear. It is fascinating. I do not care what other people wear; it is their choice to how to present themselves.

I think if you have an individual style then some people find it kind of threatening. They want to label you because it makes them feel insecure that you are not adhering to their view of the norm and by labelling you it gives them a sense of superiority when actually they are probably just jealous that they don't have the guts to express themselves with originality. Personally I don't have a noticibly strong style (though I do care how I look - for myself not others) - I never make assumptions about people from the way they dress but I am drawn to people who have a real sense of their own individuality so I guess I do have a reaction but it's a positive one.

There is a difference between dressing with style and dressing in a way that makes a person look foolish. A persons a appearance IS a reflection of who they are, and how they want to be perceived. Do you look unkempt? If you dress in a way that attracts negative attention, you can't let it bother you. But it seems that it does, and that's the bigger problem. You should work on not letting it bother you.

No I don't care, and usually I'm a slob. But sometimes I like to dress up, sometimes smart and sometimes wacky. When I'm dressed wacky I would be surprised if people didn't look at me, and I always have a good look at people who have obviously spent a long time achieving the look they have, because why look different to the herd if you don't want to be noticed? So are they bothered or are they just interested? Smile at them, if they look away they are bothered. If you smile at me I'll give you a smile back.

Could care less.Grew up in 60/s and 70's. Grew my hair long and wore what I wanted.Had people refuse to wait on me at stores.Had old people cross the street rather than pass me on the same side.Never was dirty or anything just had long hair.Learned real quick peoples opinion mean nothing. Now I'm in my 50's and know it for a fact.People's prejudices are self-inflicted and I don't have time to entertain them.

I,ve never been bothered about what other people think of me, how i see it is I am who I am, take me or leave me. I dress for comfort and practicality more than anything else. The people who dont know you shouldn't matter so take their opinions with a pinch of salt. Just be yourself, genuine people will take the time to get to know you as a person and wont judge on image.

as a teen in the early 70s i had my style .not sure where it came from or what i hoped to achieve from it but it worked for me .tight sweaters, floppy legged bue jeans and moccasins.long hair ,lots of jewelry,I knew it drove my parents crazy, and it earned me a reputation as different and rebellious and other not so nice names.one of my sweaters got me sent home from school.lol
as a young adult though I learned that in order to play in the larger sandbox i had to conform to the accepted uniform.
It wasnt fair and in some ways I felt I was caving in to the herd to fit in .but reality is that in order to make it in a career you have to set aside who you are.
so I played that game for a while.
yes I believe people have a bad habit of seeing the differences and judge and lable through the fear of "not like me" rather than exploring to see if there could be a sameness.this fear manifests itself in many ways including racial predjudice.
now I work out of my own home,Im amost 50,and dont agree at all with the person who thinks that older people '
"let them selves go because they dont feel good about themselves " if by let themselves go you mean- Dont conform to society,s sense of fashion, lol then Thats me.
I let my self go because i finally like myself and want to be true to my personality ,and I want people to see who i am,and It,s okay if you dont like who I am .
I m a mixture of the 60s hippy and the 70s earthmother, but im also Now minded and computer literate.Ive taken the last 5 decades sifted the chaff and blended the best.
It comes down to being comfy with yourself.
peace><>

Don't care at all,
But there are times you can use ur clothing to ur advantage.
Obvious one is an interview.
just try to be aware
that what you wear will create an automatic first impression of yourself for other people.
So it pays to know what that impression is.......
I always felt it best not to care about something through knowledge rather than ignorance.

i care a lot more than i used to, with my hair, my music, stuff i do and fashion. if it is not something i can boast about without being embarassed it is a secret, for instence, the fact that i am sims-mad, is something only my best mates know about in school and that i enjoy learning languages 'for fun'.

I think you need to be pretty thick skinned to cope with people's comments and judgements nowadays. I am appalled that people don't seem to be embarrassed when they openly ridicule another person for the sheer hell of it.
