You just asked which is cleanest. From the standpoint of bacteria you've got convincing arguments for both.

Human teeth are normally tightly spaced and easily trap food particles which will rot if left unattended. I've heard the uneven ridges of a dogs inner lip serve to clean the teeth while the flexibility of their tongue is another aid.

A Human's bite is more apt to cause infection according to this site. http://amos.indiana.edu/library/scripts/dogmouth.html

I watched a show called Dr.Know one time and this question was on the show. They swabbed a human mouth and then swabbed a dog's mouth and put them under a microscope. The results were that a dog's mouth by far had a lot more nasty bacteria in it. It was also found that dog saliva had more healing properties in it than a human's but was concluded it really did not matter due to all the bacteria.

The saying " A dogs mouth is cleaner then a human" is absolute myth. I looked this up.

I would say a human bc a mouth harvests bacteria and when a dog licks his behind, he is ingesting even more bacteria into his mouth. I know, it is sick, but that is the best way I could put it. Sorry.

Many bacteria are species specific. Which is why getting bit by another person may cause more infection than getting bit by a dog.
