plz read it till the end

WHY IS PORK FORBIDDEN IN ISLAM?
Bob: Tell me why is it that a Muslim is very particular about the words Halaal and Haraam; what do they mean?
Yunus: That which is permissible is termed Halaal and that which is not permissible is termed Haraam and it is the Quran which draws the distinction between the two.
Bob: Can you give me an example?
Yunus: Yes, Islam has prohibited consumption of blood of any type. You
will agree that a chemical analysis of blood shows that it contains an
abundance of uric acid, a chemical substance which can be injurious to
human health.
Bob: You're right about the toxic nature of uric acid, in the
human being. It is excreted as a waste product and in fact we are told that
98% of the body's uric acid is extracted from the blood by the
kidneys and removed through urination.
Yunus: Now I think that you'll appreciate the specially prescribed
method of animal slaughter in Islam.
Bob: What do you mean?
Yunus: You see, the wielder of the knife, whilst taking the name of
the Almighty, makes an incision through the jugular veins, leaving all
other veins and organs intact.
Bob: I see, this causes the death of the animal by a total loss of
blood from the body, rather than an injury to any vital organ. "
Yunus: Yes, if the organs, example the heart, the liver, or the brain
crippled or damaged, the animal could die immediately and its blood would
congeal in its veins and would eventually permeate the flesh. This implies
that the animal flesh would be permeated and contaminated with uric acid
and therefore very poisonous; only today did our dietitians realize such a
thing.
Bob: Again, while on the topic of food; Why do Muslims condemn the
eating of pork or ham or any foods related to pigs or swine.
Yunus: Actually, apart from the Quran prohibiting the consumption of
pork bacon (pig flesh); in fact the Bible too in Leviticus chapter 11,verse
8, regarding swine it says,
"of their flesh (of the swine another name for pig)shall you not eat,
and of their carcass you shall not touch; they are " unclean to you."
Further, did you know that a pig cannot be slaughtered at the neck for
it does not have a neck; that is according to its natural anatomy. A
Muslim reasons that if the pig was to be slaughtered and fit for human
consumption the Creator would have provided it with a neck.
"Nonetheless, all that aside, I am sure you are well informed about
the harmful effects of the consumption of pork, in any form, be it pork
chops, ham, bacon.
Bob: The medical science finds that there is a risk for various
diseases as the pig is found to be a host for many parasites and potential
diseases.
Yunus: Yes, even apart from that, as we talked about uric acid content
in the blood, it is important to note that the pig's biochemistry excretes
only 2% of its total uric acid content, the remaining 98% remains as an
integral part of the body.
Note: Islam forbids not only pork but meat of all those animals who
eat their own or some one else's body waste; the most commonly known animal
in this category is pig or swine whose meat is commonly known as pork.
Please forward to others............it may answer some of their
questions.

Being a Christian, I have to agree with what Yunus said, about the Leviticus's Prohibition of pork.
The new Testament in the book of Acts, reveals to us that God gave the Apostle Peter a vision of all sorts of animals coming down in a Sheet; the Lord said to Peter, "what the Lord has declared clean do not call unclean. There was pigs in that sheet!

There is a story about Mohammad and the pig:

Mohammad used to go out to speak to people and during his preaching he would jam his staff into the ground and water would spring from his staff. This was a great miracle in the desert.

One day, after a long sermon by Mohammad some of the pigs in the village came out and rolled around in the mud where Mohammad had made the miracle of the water happen. The pigs kicked up some sheep stomachs that had been filled with water and buried beneath the sands.

The people realized that Mohammad had faked the miracle and they chased him away.

After this Mohammad claimed that the pig was an unclean animal. He forbid his followers from having anything to do with pigs and he refused to preach any place where pigs were kept.

So the story is told.

Skeptics have refuted all of this, so you aren't helping your cause to trot out these refuted references. The Josephus passage is certainly a much later forged addition, because such Christian writers as Origen weren't aware of it a century or two after Josephus' time, it's badly out of context, Josephus was a Pharisee and wouldn't speak so favorably of Jesus, and he said much more about John the Baptist and many men who claimed to be the Messiah. Pliny only says there were Christians in his time, and no skeptic denies that. His writing doesn't prove anything about Jesus' existence.Tacitus doesn't use the name Jesus, and there were many men who claimed to be "Christus" (Anointed One) and Josephus listed some of them, so Tacitus could be discussing any of many men. Suetonius mentioned "Chrestus", not "Christus", in his "Lives of the Caesars". Chrestus is the Latin form of a common Greek name and has nothing to do with Christus, so you're just blindly repeating wrong information without understanding it. Phlegan and Celsus don't prove anything either. The punchline is that I'm an educated Catholic, and I have friends who are atheists. They've shown me that all of the things you list have been refuted. They only laugh at you for blindly repeating nonsense, and I have ambivalent feelings about it. You make me doubt my Christianity, because you show me that the Bible is the only actual proof that Jesus really lived. If you had some valid evidence, you'd present it, instead of this refuted nonsense.

the Old Testament dietary laws.....Deuteronomy 14...clean and unclean animals.........you do not eat cat, rat, dog, pig, lobster, clam, shrimp, vulture, hawk....these are the clean up crew for the planet.....

considering all the food recalls , the connection between Alzheimer's and mad cow disease, tainted food products...who in their right mind would want to eat meat???

and Peter's vision of the unclean and clean referred to the Jews and gentiles....that the Gospel was to go out to everyone not just the Jews.....the verse is taken out of context and people have been using that as an excuse to eat that which is unclean and forbidden......the diseases that the many years of consumption has caused.....

The prohibition of eating pork in Islam is relevant in this context. There is a saying in English that "a man becomes what he eats." According to physicians and medical experts, pork is a harmful diet. Consumption of swine-flesh creates lowliness in character and destroys moral and spiritual faculties in a man

The flesh of swine is haraam, for Jews, Christians and Muslims.

But if one is starving and is on the brink of death it is allowed to be eaten.

Any haraam thing can be consumed to save life.

*yawn*

As we all know properly cooked pork is no more harmful to our body than any other meat.

"Further, did you know that a pig cannot be slaughtered at the neck for it does not have a neck". That is the funniest thing I have ever seen in print. I myself have seen many many hogs bled by cutting their necks (which they indeed *DO* have).

Ah, but my religion, CHRISTIANITY permits choice. The Bible is a guide book in my opinion and has been updated throughout time. It is time to update it again. Islam is not my cup of tea, by choice, so don't force it on anyone.
