Positive Actions and Love carry has no boundries. But at the same time we are social creatures so we need to be part of a group too at the same time. The main purpose of all the religions was to create unity but lack of tolerance and compassion seems to be prevailent now. So how can we eleviate our thinking and rise above the religious bounds that make us narrow-minded and full of ego making us believe we are the Chosen Ones. What are the steps that you can suggest to clear our minds and see the human being, a part of ourself in all?

WOW I really like your question! I don't have a good answer to this, but for me personally, I definitely cannot associate myself with one specific religious denomination. I consider myself to be spiritual but not necessarily religious. I try to believe that if there is a God, that s/he should accept EVERYONE, regardless of their beliefs. I find that many religions are hypocritical. For instance, I know some people that consider themselves to be "Christian". They have told me in one moment, that God accepts everyone, but in the next moment, they say that God only accepts people of faith. No person is perfect, we all make mistakes and all can be considered sinners at some point in our lives. I try to accept all people I encounter for just being themselves and I try to find goodness in everyone.

Perhaps we should stop to realize that religion may be an invention of our species. The main purpose might be to soothe the human mind for the fear of death and all the unknowns of the universe. However, religions, like may other beliefs, can offer some people joy and contentment and social interactions which is positive. Unfortunately, as you say, there are some people who lack tolerance of anyone who do not share their beliefs and this causes conflicts when there should be harmony and happiness during our period of awareness on this earth. In short, it is acceptable to associate with any religious group or belief as long as one remains tolerant to other peoples beliefs keeping in mind that we may have invented these beliefs.

Dear Son Abdul

May Allah Bless you and all your family and all the members of Yahoo Answers participants and the whole of Humanity Ameen.

Dear with my life experience and spiritual knowledge I could say few sentences in regard to your question and right thinking.

Religion is meant for Humans. So:

First anyone has to be and behave as a human being to follow any religion he wanted to.

Otherwise No Religion is going to help.

Abdul, Even Animalas and other living and non living (any way there is nothing without life in this universe) have their own religion,it is their nature and they perfectly obey and follow it so as to get understood by man the Super Animal living being and use them.

It is only the Humans who are given an option, a freedom in their lives compared to any other creation, to adapt whatever religion or a way of life, which might cause problems if they misuse it.

Hundreds of Prophets were sent By God one after another to guide the humanity and to enforce Peace in this Human World. Things are clear to us what is Bad and What is Good for the Humanity, through Holy Scriptures.

Now It is upto Us to Choose the Path of Righteous on Whom God has Blessed or Choose the Path of those who went Astray and on whom God had Angered.

May God Almighty the Creator of the Universe Bless All of Us and Bring Us Peace Aameen.

religion is simply omissions of parts of the BIBLE.
The bible speaks very clearly about doctrine and faith as there is only ONE.
We study in part and we learn in part, but when he returns we WILL know in whole. Until then it is up you as an individual to chose whether or not to choose a religion or seek the true meaning of the "THE WORD OF GOD", by searching the scriptures for the hidden manna of GOD!!!!!

That's a good question, I associate myself with a religious group but I don't segregate myself because of it. I do however disassociate myself from hypocrites (from any group) as much as possible.
