What is the most effective plant to fight global warming or other pollution?

What house-hold plant can most effectively reduce the greenhouse gases is the atmosphere?

Bamboo. Nothing grows faster than bamboo. Even hemp.

Bamboo turns sunlight and carbon into cellulose more efficiently than any other plant.

Its going to be whatever plant grows the fastest, because most of that new mass you see was formerly atmospheric carbon in the form of CO2. I'm inclined to go with Nick's bamboo suggestion, although I've got some weeds out in the lawn that would come in a good second.

Oh and cannibis is a waste of time if you're just going to set it on fire and turn it right back into CO2.

Instead of Cannabis Sativa, how about it's relative Hemp. It grows quickly. It is easily renewable. Makes high quality paper without the chemical bleaching processing that is required w/wood cellulose. Makes twine, rope, fabric... nifty stuff. And works as a filter plant.

produces nitrogen in to the soil
and absorbs carbon ,
as well as provides fiber for clothing .ropes and bags
and medicinal ,from nervous disorders to Ash ma
and is a base for building material

the best all round crop to combat negative agriculture and pollution
but in conjunction with trees we always need trees
and paulownia is one of the best of these.

Cannabis sativa. It's a weed which grows really quickly and just about anywhere...
Gives off lots of oxygen... :)

I have to add that if we did use Cannabis sativa, we could make paper out of it which would mean no more cutting down our precious trees!
