have found little red spots on my skin (Stomach, back and legs). They look like little pimples, just red, and itch a lot. What could this be, and should I go to my GP??

OK, I suppose i gave too little details. I live in south africa. Haven't changed deoderant, soaps or anything. it is very small, red, itchy little bumps. What other symptoms does one have when you have measles?

Red Spots are a pretty vague description for identifying. There are too many variables. Are they on the torso and not the arms? Are they raised and not flat? Are they in blotches or spaced apart? Do you have chills or fever with them or not? Are the dark or light red? Do you have a sore throat or a dry patch in your throat? Any one of those things can make a difference as to what you have. You could have big measles or 3 day measles. You could be alergic to medication or something you ate or have worn. You could have Scarletina or the more advanced stage called Scarlet Fever. That is what I had and I never even got the fever until they put me on the antibiotics and then I was really sick for a good 2 weeks. All I thought I had was an alergic reaction to using my starch to starch some crocket doilies. I used it full strength and the only thing that itched was my hands and there were only a few spots on them. I went to my doctor because I couldn't stop the itch on the palms of my hands. He looked at them and that took a throat culture. I didn't even have a sore throat and onlly had a sort of dry patch in the back of my throat like if you had sinus drainage. My temperature was normal too. The culture showed I had active Scarlet Fever. My body was fighting it on its own so that was why I didn't feel sick or have the fever. As soon as they put me on the antibiotics, my body stopped fighting it for me and I got really sick with a 104 plus temp and chills and the spots came out all over my body. I suggest whatever it is, if it is itching, it's either a reaction to something and you need an antihystamine or its something like I had maybe. When in doubt, have it checked out. Good luck.

it is hard to say with so little information. have you recently changed soaps, lotions, laundry detergent, fabric softeners, fragrances, shampoo or conditioner? any of these could be the culprit. also you didn't mention how long you have had the rash. try an anti allergenic soap such as neutrogena if none of the above are possible. in the south it could be red bugs (chiggers) if you have been outdoors. you might try Benedryl for the itch and check with the dr if you can't find the cause.

Yes, see your doctor. It can be a number of contact dermatitis conditions or a reaction to a medication. Are your taking any Sulfa based drugs ?
