the xbox 360 is a great console.but they are having hardware problems like the ring of death and disk scratching making the disc unable to use later.this is the main problem with it. the games are great but if the console doesn't work whats the use.llahma.com opened the 360 for the problems.the disc scratching is caused due to the fact that the lens does not have a rubber casing.this rubber casing prevents the disk from coming into contact with each others.this means that when the disk is scratched even the lens is damaged.this is most curious because that all normal dvd players have rubber casing.
the ps3 may have a short list of game library (for now) but it is definietly the better choice. oh yeah the ring of death is caused by overheating.its beacause people keep it in a closed place or close to other items blocking fresh air to come into contact.so the 360 overheats and the ring of death is displayed(instead of the green lights flashing when switched on,three red lights flash when switched on and this cannot be repaired.)
i have seen people getting their 6th 360 in a year. and thats thanks to their warranty or the customers will be a goner.go to youtube.com and check these videos if you want proof.
now the ps3 doesn't have hardware prblems amd has all the techies inside(blu ray hddvd is no use its the same as normal dvd, bluetooth, wireless controllers with motion sensitivity, wifi (the 360 charges 100$ extra),multi card reader ,upgradable hard drive ,etc)
THE 360 WILL BE EXPENSIVE ON THE LONG RUN (XBOX LIVE ,WIRELESS ADAPTER,ETC)BUT THE PS3 IS ONCE AND FOR ALL)
SO WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE - A CONSOLE WHICH WORKS AND WORTH THE MONEY OR A CONSOLE WHICH BREAKS AND COSTS MORE ON THE LONG RUN.
(PS SOMETIMES MICROSOFT ARE CHARGING 140$ MORE FOR THE 360 REPAIR -IT HAPPENED IN SOME CASES WHICH ADDS TO THEIR LONG RUN COST))
what does the ps3 have?
1 blu ray
2 hd dvd drive
3 dvd drive ( the wii cant even play normal cds or dvd's -cool huh?)
4 tilt sensitive controller
5 20-80 gb hard drive
6 bluetooth
7 wi fi
8 card reader
9 usb ports
9 online free
10real games
SO THE PS3!

Dude, I normally recommend ppl stuff based on their fave genres. But honestly the ps3 has much more horse power than the 360. The ps3 is by far a better console, tho not many are aware of this do to it being highly priced.
Concerning graphics the overall performance seems to be quite similar, but ps3's potential is way more than that of the 360, just wait for games that will take good advantage of the hardware. Two, there aren't many good games for the ps3 yet. Final Fantasy XIII, Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear are supposedly to be exclusives, and theres just more good games coming in like little big planet and some others. Frankly speaking, the release titles for the ps3 were VERY painful and made no sense to its $599 price. I never had any big problems with the 360 myself, but there's a 30% rate it might need to be returned for repairs (source:wikipedia) so many end up saying its unstable.
360 has been out for a while, in two years they've managed to sell 10 million units while the ps3 has sold almost half in roughly 11 months. Both consoles are losing tons of money on hardware with the hopes of making profits out of the games, but it seems that Microsoft is making greater loses with the decrease of xbox sales worldwide. Xbox Live is a great gaming (online) experience, and $50 a year isn't that shabby as it seems. Ps3 network isn't that bad, and plus its free. Blu-ray discs are the top-storing data format
and will make up gorgeous graphics, and a more extensive game play.
The only significant factor you must take in mind is what you really want. As I said before, I'm a fan of rpgs and I prefer Ps3 games. 360 has Halo, which is the greatest fps online game I've ever played (then again sony will have Unreal 3) but ps3 has HOME which is an awesome online community. Right now the 60 gig model is to be discontinued once its been killed off stores and is currently retailed for $499, almost the same amount of money youll need for an Xbox360 Elite system. Good luck with your decision! /oh and btw whatever console you end up choosing its always a good idea to have a wii too for the sake of Nintendo.

It is all just opinion. 360's are genereally focused more towards jsut the hardcore gamer with titles like gears of war. It does not put much of an emphasis on multimedia. The ps3, while not the most popular in terms of games is capable of somethings that the 360 is not for instance the blu ray player. It all comes down to what you will be using it for.

The PS3 is better than the xBox 360. The PS3 is easy to use, free to play multiplayer on playstation network, and the PS3 console is cheaper than the xBox 360.

PS3.
you could easily spend as much on a 360, if not more, as the PS3, what with add-ons, online service (PS3s' is free).
the PS3s games are starting to find their feet and will soon show their true class.
the online community for the 360 is undoubtedly better, but the PS3 is showing promising signs of catching up, quickly.
the PS3 wasn't rushed into production with a design fault which causes about 30% of them to fail (see 360 red ring of death)

I prefer the 360.
Right now it's cheaper, has better games, has a bigger online community, and in my opinion is better.
PS3 other hand has really nice graphics, but not too many games, the online is free, but I don't think it's as good as Xbox Live. Plus the PS3 comes with a blu-ray dvd player.
It's up to you. Personally I'd go for the 360, it is fun and has tons of games that will never leave you bored.
I have never had any problems with my 360.

The only choice i give is PS3 , Compare Both from wat i give.........
PS3:
PLUS :
# Main advantage is that it supports Blu Ray the next Generation of DVD disc war in Which a single Blu Ray can hold to a maximum 54 GB.
# Graphics Kicks As* Because it has 20 Processors while PS2 had only only 3 Processors.
# Handling and playing Games is easy.
MINUS :
# Jaw Dropping Price (can wait until it lowers).
# Less Games Relased till now (Must wait it is though to create games within 6 months from now many will come dont worry).
# Main disadvantage humbuck controllers that get easily broken (Very sad).
XBOX 360 :
PLUS :
# Cheap , Cheap ,Cheap ......... (Days passed Price also reduced).
# Many games release (Days passed).
# Strong Controllers.
MINUS :
# GRAPHICS SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (just 6 Processors).
# Ediotic handling for games and though time to play easy games (Hand pain starts).
# Total Waste .................
If you get XBOX 360 u need to change console within 3+ years (new console with old developments)
If you get PS3 u need not to change console for 10+ years (new console with ultra new developments)
My choice naturally goes to PS3 !!!!!!!!!!!

PS3. It has a built in Blu-ray disc drive and blu-rays alone cost more than the ps3. It has high-definition gaming and enhanced digital media storage. It also has 'always-on' online connectivity; offering multiplayer gaming, text and video messaging, voice chatting, downloading content and browsing the internet. Theres a wireless controller and you can easily exchange media like photos, videos and music.

My favorite part of this question is the stupid answers people give. They don't have the PS3, nor have they played it, but they are recommending it.
The other ones are recommending it with games that won't be out for another 2ish months.
I would recommend getting the XBOX 360. Sony is trying to screw up the HD format with it's inferior disc quality (Sure, BluRay might have more space, but they have yet to provide consistent dual-layer discs) because they are flimsy and VERY easy to break. I've had two PS3 discs bust already with the SAME abuse (cat jumping on them) to my 360 discs, and the 360 discs aren't scratched and didn't break. The PS3 discs did.
Go XBOX, I know you'll be happy.
