This theory works primarily on the premise that no body knows about 'what is to happen'.Say,if it is said that on a Sunday morning at 10 o'clock it would rain at so and so place and then if it happens or not,we shall have the probability of the forecast ,in either case. That being not the case with real time life situations,we are left with conjectures like above or thriving fortune tellers, palmists and what not.A number of events can be foreseen to happen through dynamic programming.where all aspects are made to interact but not always accurately. For events which happen at Random,we can only guess.Put simply, even smallest or most insignificant evens are the products or byproducts of extremely complicated processes and are not open to accurate prediction.Helplessness added by stimulus generated by anxiety makes us search for easy ways out and we come up with ideas, theories, sayings or whatever,to learn to cope up and live with them.Like "What will happen will happen." At the end of the day,one can conveniently say that "what is meant to happen shall happen, come what may",an outright admission of our helplessness but a also cleverness to deal with uncertainty.

--IF YOU MEAN that God is behind something meant to happen, other than God bringing on Armageddon and other such interventions in accord with ".....thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, Yes I do believe it will!

BUT IF you are talking about individual happenings , God does not deal with destinies, he has given us free will. AND does not control our lives, nor bring about good luck:
(Isaiah 65:11) “. . .But YOU men are those leaving Jehovah, those forgetting my holy mountain, those setting in order a table for the god of Good Luck and those filling up mixed wine for the god of Destiny.”

--JUST ABOUT everything takes place under this type of circumstance:

(Ecclesiastes 9:11) “. . .I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.”

I am a very very spiritually person I always listen to my inner instincts your learn to to develop them with time and experience. What it meant to happen will happen no matter what. If's like "let it fly if if comes back it's yours". Be in peace and relax.

nothing is meant to happen, unless a theory of everything (some day) reveals otherwise

Sort of. I think that was is going to happen will happen. We can never have knowledge of it (at least not with our current understanding of reality) hence we can never change it.
