I'm going to summer school in college, & I feel this high amount of anxiety that's mentally blocking me from doing my schoolwork because of fear of failure. & it's also making me depressed enough to not be able to get out of bed. I have my college degree, but my GPA was very low. I'm taking extra undergrad courses. & I just feel mentally blocked from being able to do my schoolwork. & also, when I read the 1st 3 letters of my reading assignments, my OCD unwanted thoughts pop in my mind uncontrollably like crazy.

Should I give up? I feel like I'm about to mentally go insane.

You, my friend, are having anxiety/panic attacks. Go see your doctor for a referral to a psychiatrist. They'll treat you with medication which helps. Drop the extra courses.

mentally insane. How 20th Century. It DOES sound like you've got some problems that need fixing. Some mental illnesses often develop at your age, so you should seek medical help immediately. My general comments are:
1. WHY are you back in school if you are not a very good student? There is nothing wrong with perseverance but if you don't have a rational reason to be taking the hard road, then you should question whether this is healthy behaviour.
2. Why is someone so "in touch" with themselves asking for others opinions. I mean, it seems you know why you're avoiding school work, know why you're depressed and know what your OCD is causing. So, if you are such an expert in psycology maybe you should be answering questions not asking them. Or maybe you have been doing a lot of rationalizing about the causes of your behaviour without REALLY understanding it. Is easy to fool ourselves.
3. Your thoughts are your thoughts. They may be crazy but its your brain thats generating them. Wanted - unwanted has nothing to do with it. They are there for a reason: The reason COULD be a brain that needs some repairs - medication, counselling, behaviour modification, discipline, etc. OR it could be that there are some issues that YOU haven't been dealing with that are upsetting enough to have this kind of spill-over effect. Either way you need to get some help. Now.
4. You mention your low GPA but not your perserverence. Stop treating yourself as a glass half-empty. Accentuate the positive, depreciate the negative. Be the best you you can be.
5. To improve, the first step is to recognize a problem. Check. Second step is to WANT to get better. check . THird comes making the changes and getting the help you need to do it. So what are you waiting for?

You are under stress and that is causing your OCD to work overtime. It also sounds as if you are having anxiety attacks. It is easy to understand with the pressure you have been under. I know you were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. That is a very, very traumatic event. Is it possible you could be suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder too? It would be understandable if you were.

You may have to drop some of the things you have to do for now until you get a little more regulated (either with medication or rest or therapy).

Worry about taking care of yourself for a while. Get plenty of rest. Stay away from negative people. Do things that you enjoy? Do not isolate yourself from good people as that only makes depression worse.

God bless you and keep you safe.

sounds to me like you are reexperiencing some former trauma. Look to the many energy medicines EFT, TAT, Whole Hearted Healing, EMDR, NLP to help you out.

Don't give up. Part of you is resisting all you need to do is work with that part and let it go. The above mentioned energy therapies will do that for you. It's quite simple. You will be surprised.

I want to be sure I understand what you've written ... you're so afraid of doing your summer schoolwork that you're not able to get out of bed? My question would be ... If you're not getting out of bed, how are you doing the work?

I think that you should just stay in bed all summer, which would cure you of your anxiety and fear of failure. You'd be well rested and because you're not going to the classes you seem to not be able to go to anyway, you're anxiety would be gone.

Problem solved ... have a nice day!

If you give up now, then next time you have a problem you won't even ask anyone, you will just quit then too. Quitting is one of those things that get easier each and everytime. It sounds to me that you are not having any mental problems (I am sure you are wanting an easy fix, or something to blame your problem on) but the only problem I hear is that you have a lack of motivation. You have to decide whether you would like to be successful, or become a failure (quitter) My suggestion would be to analyze your life closely, and quit looking for excuses. What do you really want out of life, and what will it take to get what you want, and is it worth fighting for.

Never give up! But it would be very good to consult a doctor. Say the same thing as you said on here. And you'll do fine. :)

It is your tribal nature attempting to take over to give your mind a break. If you force your way through it, you will succeed for a while, improving your performance, until one day your mind will crash or perhaps you may hurt millions from your excelling to your point of high inadequacy using political power you could not handle functionally or civilly.

To follow your natural tendencies, you will need to give it a rest. Many will push you to do more and more. You must take care of yourself. Tribal mind patterns require rest and day dreaming and sometimes visions. Many people do not realise that they have these tendencies and are taught to suppress them at their sanity's expense at sometime in their future.

Sorry nobody explained this to you yet. I am a Forgive Affirmed Spirit. Healing be unto you.
