I just want to know how anyone can hang on to a religion that was built on lies & violence. Don't the facts disturb you?

What disturbs me are people who make generalizations about supposedly historical stuff.
The Catholic Church is accused of killing millions of people in the Spanish Inquisition. Well the history channel and many historians are now quesitoning the whole thing. Not all those who suffered under the Inquisition were burned. So they began to ask, "Where are the records?" Where are the graves? They couldn't find very many.

Stop being so stupid. Many protestants wrote falsifications of the Catholic Church Inquisitions and such. It was a way of promoting Protestantism in their areas. It was propaganda.

As a Catholic,i am uncomfortable, with some of the past history of the church, but i truly believe, that if you confront the mistakes of the past, then you grow+possibly attain for them!

I think it was wrong just as the reigns of terror by athesists and agnostics. But you have one glaring error in you question and that is the statement that the Christian faith was built on lies and violence. Rather it withstood intense persecution and grew. Read history. Don't mix people who used the church in their lust for power with the church itself.

The church should be forgiven, because even the inquisition was done out of love. The motives were pure, and burning women at the stake was a pain than someone had to enjoy watching.

reign of terror? lies?

I think we might have differnet definition of lies. You see a lie is something that is untrue. However, Christ clearly existed. We have the witness of His life and resurrection from the Apostles. We have the testimony of contemporaries. And we have the Book of Mormon and other modern apostles who have seen and spoken with the Living Savior. He lives.
