I have dogs that are peeing on the bushes out front of my house and the smell is terrible! How do I keep them away and get rid of the smell?

I have a large property and to put a fence up won't work eather. People let their dogs out in the morning to run. My neighbor has a fence and the dogs get through it anyway. What I'm looking for is a home made spray to use.

Unfortunatly, unless you put up a fence, which they will then pee on, they won't quit peeing on your bushes unless the owners keep them away from them. You can use lyme to defect most of the smell. Try putting up signs asking people to not let their dogs pee on your bushes. Or, get some of the signs for a freshly treated yard saying that children and pets should stay off due to the chemicals recently used on it......

Consider the kind of maintenance your lawn gets. The soil beneath a highly fertilized lawn already contains large concentrations of nitrogen--and a little more, courtesy of a dog doing his duty, is enough to push the grass over the edge. (Female-dog urine is not more potent than that of males. It causes more trouble simply because females tend to urinate all at once in one spot.)

Can you rig an motion sensing switch to turn on water sprinklers?

I have a homemade recipe for organic pesticide. It sounds SO terrible, I was hoping maybe it would work on animals, too.

Much luck!

Well dog owners who let their dogs pee on your property ( if it is on your property) are just very ignorant. You can leave a plastic sign that says " please don;t let your dog do his bussiness here" but that really doesn't work too well. All I can suggest is rinsing bushes with alot of water... Nothing else will really help in that situation. Once the scent of one dog is there other will mark it as well.

Your problem is not with the dogs, but the owners who let them run the streets and make a nuisance of themselves. If you know who owns the dogs, I'd talk to the owners. You could also call animal control and report the loose dogs.

If that doesn't work you could try the electronic devices. Here's a link to two different ones. http://www.lowguys.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=pestcontrol&Product_Code=BIR-YGARD

There is just no other way to stop this. Hope this helps.

Vinegar and water. It neutralizes the odor and won't hurt your plants. In fact the acid in the vinegar will help some plants.
