I loved VBS from age 3 on, first I went, then I helped and I"ve taught ever since, it was so fun and I think it had a large part to do with the development of my faith as a child, it is so fun how about you ?

Bible School for children has questionable value. I have discussed this issue with many friends. One woman said she attended daily and, every time the call was made for these children to be "saved," she would march to the altar and vow to be a good Christian. All in all, she was "saved" fourteen times.

Another lady told of being so frightened by the entire experience, the thought that she had vowed to change and become something she didn't understand, that she ran screaming from the church toward home and fell into her mother's arms, sobbing.

How can a child handle these situations? And what right has any human to inflict these spiritual transformations upon children? I did not send my own children to Bible School for these reasons.

I never went to VBS but once and I don't remember that much about it. I didn't start going to church till late. I was 12 the first time I remember going to church. I was 14 or 15 when I started going regularly for awhile. But I was always and still am curious about VBS. I'm 38 now and I have always wondered what kind of effect it would have had on my life.

Yes I remember the times I had in VBS. I learned the Jesus Loves me song. This is going back 30 years.

When I was in grade school, I was coerced by a fear-mongering preacher into being baptized while I was a guest at a friend's VBS at a Baptist Church ("Calvary Baptist") in Arkansas. I credit the emotional fall-out from that negative experience to starting me on the path that would eventually lead me to becoming the atheist that I am today.

I taught VBS, but i missed out on being in it. But from what i saw in the three year olds, it helped thier faith a whole bunch. They learned so much in there, and they seem so smart! It surprised me...
