Christians, that can't be right?

Question

So the world is about 6000 years old?
Well the Aboriginal people have been living in Australia for 65,000 years (or so).
Does the Bible have a mistake? Or are we in Australia, living a lie about our heritage?

The world is millions of years old. As far as the Bible goes, they only guessed that it was 6,000 yeas old. The people who assert that haven't ever studied the surrounding cultures or the sources for the Bible. They don't even know when and why the creation story was actually written.

The creation account, found in the book of Genesis, is totally silent on the age of both the earth and the universe. Genesis 1:1 simply states: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Beginning with verse 2, the account describes the preparation of earth for habitation. The preparation - not the creation.

It is true that many professed Christians teach and believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old. But the Bible does not.

No, the world is not 6000 years old. Why do you people insist on making these sweeping generalizations? Perhaps you need to take a course in logics and faulty reasoning.
At least qualify, please.

Nowhere in the Bible is it said that the world is 6000 years old. Make sure you have the facts before you post such things. It makes you look rather foolish to post lies.

1. Man hasbeen on the Earth about 6000 years.
2. The world (Earth) may be (in man's eyes) much older. (Especially teh first three days and nights of Gen. 1 may be much more than 72 hours. The sun, moon,and stars were not created yet).

The Bible is about Gods love, not mans history according to Jesus. Those who imagine mans history to be complete in it are the same type of fanatic that wears dynamite vests. Its possible that even Jesus is a thousand years older because of the'dark ages' when no European kept accurate records. As for the age of your history, there really is no telling true age of anything unless there is a chronological record and carbon dating is still guessing.

And the Original People of Australia have only been there for about 40,000 years, which is still a goodly long time.

Hardly anyone follows it. The people who do are called "fundies" and are frightening people; they are also the small minority. Most Christians are not at scientifically inept as everyone generalizes and do not take any 'scientific facts' written in the bible as fact.

Dr Carl bough heads up the creation institute in midland TX, where a sheet of clay was washed up with dinosaur tracks all in it, and humans too, so it is easy to not know how old we are by just a casual look
