It's important to keep global warming and it's effects in context. Hollywood and the media have a tendency to over simplify and to sensationalise the real effects.
The world won't stop functioning and there will be no dramatic scenes of tsunamis, sudden ice ages or the like but what we will see is a gradual changing of the climate, this has been occurring for many decades already and will continue into the future, albeit at a slightly faster rate.
People in America, Europe and other developed parts of the world are best placed to mitigate the effects of global warming - we have both the resources and the finances to offset many of the effects; unfortunately this isn't the case in much of Africa and Asia.
Please don't be really scared, this is largely the product of a sometimes irresponsible media. The actual science and reality is much more mundane.
There are a number of things that you can do to slow down global warming*, rather than copy and paste a whole load of text you might wanrt to look at these websites...

* It's not realistic to expect people to change their lives to the point where we can actually stop global warming altogether. This would involve such dramatic changes to our lifestyles that it would be like going back in time some 200 years. Scientists around the world are looking at other ways to reduce or reverse the effects of global warming including methods of removing the excess greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.

Well don't be too scared, there is no solid evidence that humans are causing global warming. The earth has gone through numerous "natural" cycles in which warming and cooling has taken place. Regardless of what Al Gore says, the evidence does not show that humans are causing global warming. So I wouldn't worry about it too much. But if you want to really know what you can do, write Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, and John Edwards and tell them that until they quit riding around in private jets, that you will not take them seriously as an advocate for global warming improvements.

I can't do anything to stop global warming, as it's gonna happen reguardless. Humans need to stop draining the earth of it's natural resourses and reduce the pollution but climate change occurs naturally in cycles. Humans are just speeding things up and making it more unnatural.
Those who think humans don't contribute to the earths destruction are happy living with thier ignorance... it's how they cope everyday, running from the truth
