i am American and my husband is Hungarian .he is working in the UK and i would like to go too.to be with him. can anyone tell me how do i go about getting a work permit???or at least a immgration phone number?thanks everyone who helps

i think the way it works these days is you just have to turn up and tell the customs officials

The best website to look at is the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (www.fco.gov.uk) which deals with visas and permits. It will also have a list of all the British Missions in the US, and which ones deal with visa applications. I know that the British Embassy in Washington DC doesn't deal with visas, so you'll need the nearest Consulate. Contact your nearest Consulate to find out what the requirements are for a work permit.

the best options is to contact the british high commission/embassy near you or search at internet writing british embassy in usa it will pull up all the address and phone numbers.

UK has tighned its borders control due to terrorism etc., you should be OK good luck bring an umbrella with you

travel to the nearest British embassy and they'll give you all the lowdown, if you don't know of one then google it.
