Private Beauchamp recounted some grotesque incidents in his columns, including his own mocking of a woman disfigured by the war and accounts of a soldier who took joy in running over a dog in a Bradley fighting vehicle and another who found the top of a child’s skull and wore it on his head as a joke.

Reminds me of the atrocity that happened in Guantanamo. If this happened to Americans on foreign land, there would be outrage! It's embarrassing, but I don't hold it against the soldiers. It's not very different then what happens in our prisons, and the Milgram prison experiment. You can take a decent man, and given the right environment, have a sadistic cruel person emerge.

Ok so its obvious this is another person who is oblivious to the war. As I have told many other anti war persons on here, you cant sit at home and read everything negative about the war because its not true! Unless you have been over there and seen what goes on, you are living in a world of lies and deceit that the media imposes on a nation for the sake of ratings. I could write letters into some newspaper about how I was abducted by aliens while in Iraq, and someone out there would believe that crap. Point being, for those of you that are disagreeing with the war so much, why not pick up a gun and helmet and go over there. You dont have to fire a shot, just go there to see whats going on. You call yourselves Patriots and Americans, why not fight for the rights that all you anti war people abuse everyday for your conspiracy theories and BS news articles that you believe? Dont say that by you sitting on your a** at home on the computer is doing something good for your fellow Americans. Before you go around talking of such blasphemy on your own people, think of all the soldiers that have died to give you the right to down talk them and what they died for.

99% of our soldiers are honest hard-working men and women who have signed up to put their lives on the line to protect our freedom (ok you can argue that this is not what is going on in Iraq... but if we got into a war where our national security were truly at risk, these would be the same people who would be defending us).

Don't let the sick ******* ******** who do these kind of sick things spoil your perception of the other 99%.

Furthermore, don't believe everything you read on the internet. Not every bad story you hear about are real. The ones that are real, of course, should result in severe punishment for the offenders.

Regarding Oh Yeah's answer. What you are doing might be really good, IF you would also do that in the other direction. But somehow, I doubt you ever scanned the web looking for pictures of Taliban soldiers or Sadaam Hussein's soldiers committing war crimes.

When I first starting going to church as a teenager (I am not a bible beater) THe hipocrates bothered me. A wise old man told me "Just keep your eyes on the Lord Son, and don't worry about them" THe same is true about soldiers, don't pick out one jerk but look at the percentages of good soldiers. In fact take it even farther, dspite the disaster of Iraq look at how some of those soldiers lives are better for serving in Iraq, the skills they learned ect. They can tell their grat grankids about it, and think how proud it made theyre families. Look on the brighter side

Beauchamp is being exposed as a liar. The New Republic did NO research to verify his claims, they just published them. Many soldiers in his unit say he is a malcontent and full of crap.

I served in both OEF and OIF. I can tell you from personal experience that I think he is full of s***. He went in with a personal agenda, married to a writer/researcher for the New Republic.

I'm not sure I would trust anyone's writings who claims this:

"My goal is to become an incompetent leader that gets fragged by 30 something NCO’s at a forward operating base in Sadr City. Heres to the memories and stardust kid. love, Scott". That is from HIS blog. It sounds like he has one hell of an ax to grind. Anyone with that much dislike for what he is doing can't be trusted in my opinion

You know, the majority of murderers are men. Does that mean women should distrust all men? No? Then by that same logic, just because there may be some bad soldiers (and even if your examples are a hoax, I'm sure there are a few bad ones) doesn't mean we shouldn't support our troops. It's their bad actions that are punishable, not their being soldiers.

I do not support any type of soldier because they are playing God. And the Bible says that our God is a very jealous God and imitating him is wrong.

You forgot to add that the military laughed, heckled and took pictures on their cell phones of the Katrina victims waiting in line for help.

The military is a lot like the Catholic Church, and immoral organization and a cult that hides and protects it's backslidden, and since your silence is your acceptance, then that is what makes the entire organization wrong. There may be a boy scout or two in the Klu Klux Klan, but because of what the 'organization' stands for and covers up, it makes the whole group wrong, same for the Catholic Church and the military. Look at people who don't like liberals as a group and won't vote for them. If your going to apply the rule, apply the rule.

LOL to Trouts responses to the war mongerers. Get em'!

Retard, do you hold everyone to the same standard? If you do then all teachers are perverts, cops crooked, doctors evil and mothers and fathers unfit. The bottom line is that we do not condemn or negate the contributions of millions for the actions of a few.
