Violence, it's very traumatizing to young children. The after affects can last for a very long time. I'm a preschool teacher and I have worked with many kids who have experienced violence within the home, or even seen horror movies at young ages and it really affects them, more than most people realize.

Sex is one of those things that could go either way, if you are talking about the child walking in on their parents having sex......most young kids aren't even going to know what's going on. If they do, straight and tactful.....that's something that mommies and daddies that love each other do. On the other hand, if you are talking about a parent watching porn with the child sitting right there, or purposely having sex in front of their children......that is a whole different can of worms and crosses over into becoming a child protection issue. That's not something that any child should be exposed to.

Violence is more harmful to a child than sex in that sex is mandatory for human existence and violence is not.

If you're discussing whether to expose your child to R rated movies, then I say neither sex nor violence is necessarily worse than the other - in life, nearly everything in moderation is acceptable. To eliminate all violence from a child's world sounds nice, but sometimes children need to be exposed to some of the rougher elements in life so they can be better prepared for things when they're adults. The same goes for sex - sure, you don't want your child to sit at home watching porn but if it wasn't for sex none of us would be here. Just like drugs and alcohol, children must be taught to respect sex and violence, and learn what is okay and what is not acceptable. You just want to make sure not to over expose them.

violence i think.. though an adult must be able to have a sensible answer whenever a child asked about delicate 'sexual issues'.. otherwise, if not explained properly, it can also cause moral damages and misconceptions to the children's young mind.

i.e.

For A Child's Young Mind:

War/ Bombings/ Killings = Scary = Generally Violent
Witness: Kissing/ Necking/ Love Making = New Sexual Feeling = Malicious Mind

Children generally are unaware what 'love making' exactly meant.. therefore, if that sensitive issue will not be well explained.. those 'NEW Feelings' Curiosity they are having is multiplying more and more as they grow older until they have have this Sexual excitement physically and mentally (they will start to feel it in their own bodies sonner or later)... so extreme sexual excitement can also cause harm.. there is no wrong in love making but for young children, it can make them to be malicious too.

Can anyone really believe that soft porn in our Hollywood movies, hard porn in our cable movies and violent porn in our ‘rap’ music is without effect? Here the average, overall impact is quite discernible to the naked eye. And at the margin, the effects, in terms most notably of illegitimacy and rape, are shockingly visible

Children’s greatest exposure to violence comes from television. TV shows, movies edited for television, and video games expose young children to a level of violence unimaginable just a few years ago. The American Psychological Association says the average child watches eight thousand televised murders and one hundred thousand acts of violence before finishing elementary school
That number more than doubles by the time he or she reaches age eighteen.

At a very young age, children are seeing a level of violence and mayhem that in the past may have been seen only by a few police officers and military personnel. TV brings hitting, kicking, stabbings, shootings, and dismemberment right into homes on a daily basis

The impact on behavior is predictable. Two prominent Surgeon General reports in the last two decades link violence on television and aggressive behavior in children and teenagers. In addition, the National Institute of Mental Health issued a ninety-four page report, Television and Behavior: Ten Years of Scientific Progress and Implications for the Eighties. They found “overwhelming” scientific evidence that “excessive” violence on television spills over into the playground and the streets

In one five-year study of 732 children, “several kinds of aggression, conflicts with parents, fighting and delinquency, were all positively correlated with the total amount of television viewing.”

:::: really its hard to choose beacause both go hand in hand..my son will be 13..i have parental block on my t.v. it is sad..everything revolves around sex/violence..

I agree with everybody, violence. I don't know why such a big deal is always made of nudity. As long as it's age appropriate and obviously nothing remotely of pornographic content, a child can see sex scenes that are not graphic, depending on his age of course. I think if more people kept their husbands happy in the bedroom, perhaps they wouldn't feel the urge to invade other countries and kill innocent people.

Violence is more harmful.
When I was 10, I went round one of my friends house and saw his 4 year old brother watching Terminator. He used to hit his family members.

When I was 8 I went round a different friends house and he found his dads porn. A few of us watched it. Didn't bother or inspire any of us. Possibly had we watched it at a later age, it would have. Hard to say.

Violence. Sex is just a way of expressing love, because in that moment of orgasm you truly love your partner, even if its just a skin deep kind of love. Violence on the other hand is just the worst part of humanity.

Seeing their mother being beaten by their father. When children are still young, they have the idea that Mum and Dad are the most perfect beings on earth. Seeing this happening between them will be the most disappointing thing ever.
