Floods are causing damages to human life mainly due to poor civic and local administration techniques and non-cooperating public.
Otherwise even the most dangerous and oceanic floods should not cause damages to human life. It would ofcourse carry away trees and the stuff like that.
Floods would happen even if there is no global warming. Earth quakes would be there even without human activities. These are all natural causes.
But sudden changes in the environmental behavior is what has been tipped as global warming effect.
In nature, everything outbalance would be counteracted to bring in the balance. So nature's violent reactions are sometimes more dangerous for our present crisis management techniques.
And there were and are things which are beyond our control. Say, a huge asteroid or comet collapsing with our planet and so many such.

It's not possible to blame any single event on global warming as there are a great many other things that influence our weather.
One important factor that influences the weather in the UK is the Jet Stream. At this time of year the stream normally passes high over the North Atlantic between Scotland and Iceland but this year it's further south passing over Wales, Central England and across the North Sea towards Denmark and parts of Scandinavia.
As it comes in off the Atlantic it brings with it cyclonic conditions (low pressure) and moisture laden air which subsequently falls as rain. At the same time the Jet Stream acts as a barrier preventing better weather moving up to the UK from Southern Europe - effectively it's preventing summer from reaching the UK.
This phenomenum isn't all that unusual and happens every few years, typically levels of summer rainfall are more akin to those of winter.
This certainly goes some way to explaining the unprecedented rains and flooding that have hit the UK in recent weeks. However, these rains have been record breaking and it's probable that global warming has been a contributory factor.
A warmer world is a wetter world, higher temperatures mean increased evapouration from the seas and oceans and consequently increased precipitation. This has been observed around the world and comes as no great surprise. The worrying thing is that this is a trend which is not only set to continue but to get worse. The UK Met Office calculated some years ago that global warming will ultimately lead to a nine fold increase in flooding events in the UK. The Association of British Insurerers commissioned their own independent research which came to the same conclusion. Now's the time to move if you live on a flood plain and to ensure your insurance premiums are up to date.
The flooding of 1947 was caused by a very different set of circumstances. The previous winter had been one of the worst on record with intense snowfalls and prolonged sub-zero temperatures. The temperatures froze the ground in many places to a depth of about one metre, many times more than normal.
Throughout January and February there had been relentless frosts and continued snowfall leading to a massive accumulation of snow (if you have elderly relatives that remember the winter of '47 I'm sure they'll have some interesting stories to tell).
In mid March temperatures rose sharply resulting in a very rapid thaw but because the ground was frozen solid the meltwater was unable to penetrate the ground and instead ran off as surface water leading to devastating flooding in many parts of the country.

GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE FLOODS WHEN THE EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING HAPPEN YOU WILL VERY WELL KNOW AS SO WILL THE REST OF THE WORLD GLOBAL WARMING IS GOING TO CAUSE THE SEA LEVELS TO RISE 10 TO 20 FT HIGH AND THE PPL LIVING COASTAL WILL HAVE TO MOVE INLAND AND THIS WILL BE THE MOST DEVESTATING EVENT THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN GLOBAL WARMING IS TALKED ABOUT IN THE BIBLE AND THERE IS NOTHING NOBODY CAN DO ABOUT IT THIS IS JUST ONE OF MANY THAT WILL BRING THIS WORLD TO THE END AND IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME JUST PICK UP UR BIBLE AND READ ABOUT IT IN THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS IT IS ALL THERE AND IT SPEAKS OF THE GLOBAL WARMING THAT WILL HAPPEN FOR THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT A LIE

Why not spread knowledge instead of this disinformation? If you think you are right shouldn't the truth be benificial to you too?
Simply put, weather always have anomalies. The current floods, and the floodings 60 years ago, are examples of that. What is expected is that those deviations will occur more frequently, and more severly, then before.

Are you seriously trying to advance the argument that only one thing could ever be the cause of floods? Real scientific mind you got there...
