well i am up tonight taking care of a kitten my son (20) found with its umbilical cord still attached. He looked for signs of mother or other kittens but found nothing so he brought it home. He takes a bottle, but not easily. takes a while for him to get the hang of it still. I wash him with a warm wet cloth like his mother would and hope for the best. I am going to call the city animal shelter to see if there are any nursing mothers that might take this baby as her own until he is old enough to bring home. Any encouraging words for me? Advice? I have other animals and they are curious about the baby but are not too interested. :)

well instead of the bottle use a medicine dropper and it will work much better...i have a cat that my daughter brought in to me with his umbilical cord still connected and he couldnt even walk yet (he was dragging his back legs) what i did was dropper feed him every 2 hours and kept him as warm as possible...at this tender age he will not be able to use a litter box yet so you will have to keep a towel under him to use for potty and keep changing it or get puppy pads...it can be done with out a nursing mother just use kitten milk replacement or baby formula but it will need to be fed every 2 hours faithfully good luck to you...my "little" guy now weighs almost 15lbs and he is my biggest cat and he is so lovable like a big grey teddy bear....any questions feel free to email me

Try not to let him get stressed.Sounds like the mother was in the process of moving her kittens to a safer place and for some reason dropped him.She probably would have come back for him if she wasn't stressed.My niece rescued 3 kittens from n abandoned house.She had to lock the house back up,but what to do with the kittens? Instead of putting them on the porch and waiting in the car awhile she brought them to me....Oh my God.I fed them too and tried like the milk can said to stimulate their elimination.I fed every2 hours and kept them in a quiet warm place. One died the next day,but I kept the vigil. They have to be fed and stroked every 2 hours or more if you can. There are many shelters,but you will need persistence.Have your son call the local vets too. I hope you find a surrogate mom. Don't fuss to much at your son.

It sounds like you are off to a good start! Taking care of a newborn kitten is hard work, but rewarding. Newborns have to be fed hourly, so you might want to get some help during the first week. Do you know how to stimulate them to urinate/deficate? Just rub his/her bottom with the warm wet cloth, otherwise it will become backed up.
As for finding a cat to take it on- good luck. Not all mother's are willing to adopt, so you may be raising an orphan. ; )

This is a wonderful thing you did. I know it is hard, but if the kitten makes it, it will be so rewarding! I raised 4 kittens recently with a bottle, and now they are weaned and doing fine! I didn't get them so small, though, don't get disappointed if the kitten doesn't make it. Don't give up hope either, though, because if you keep it in a nice tempreature, not too warm but not too cool either, and you feed it with the substitute milk, and rub his behind with a soft cotton to help it pee, he may be a proper little kitten in 4 weeks!

i think thats sweet that your son would do that, most people now a days are heartless and dont care to help animals. But i think youre doing the right thing, see if the shelter can help, if not, maybe you can take it to a vet and get some advice, they can probably fix him up and tell you exactly what to do.

i think you are doing very well a cat that belongs to a friend af mine had kittens and the mother is very young.....she has 2 that is runts and they dont act like they even lach on so the vet told them to put he in a different box every 2-3 hrs and sit to let them nurse alone with mom so remember it is like a newborn human needs to frequently eat another sighn to look for is if it is going pee and poop if so then you are doing great!!

You could try to call a cat rescue so they could take over the duties and tell them that when the kitty is old enough, you would love to adopt it.

try feed it whit a baby bottlom four may be a 2 mouth
then try feed it whit kitten chow food are cat food
and kitten milk
