because here is a place where people can be as nasty as they want to be without getting into an arguement. some people are just sad in their lives and want to take it out on others.

Hey now...not everyone is rude. I am not rude and neither are half the people I've encountered here. Just because a few people are rude does not mean everyone is.
As to why the rude people are rude, I suppose it's because they don't see that each person here is a person. To them, it seems like everyone is just words on their computer screen.

They aren't rude. They just have a lot of misunderstandings for what others write on websites or in chat, because many people don't know how to:
A) Capitalize their sentences properly , or
B) Use spell check, or
C) Use the English language with proper grammar, and sometimes
D) All of the above.

Not everyone on Yahoo Answers is rude any more than in society in general. It takes all kinds and unfortunately there are some people who enjoy being hurtful and belittling others.

Oh there being rude alright! Surely you've noticed? People make all these ruuuude assumptions about your character, and tell you. Or they make fun of your question, when we are all here to help eachother.
It's one thing to give eachother crap when the questions a silly one, but not when people really do need a hand.
Grrrr.....
