i was recently in a car accident where the right passenger side door was rammed by another car. we called the police and wrote down reports and such.
now, the main question. my dad is the policy holder and i was driving the car with his insurance and registration. his insurance company asked if there are any other drivers at the time and he said no. At that moment, i had a license not too long ago about 4-6months. would my dad's insurance policy cover me? or will my claim be denied?

from what i know, my dad's insurance policy is 50/50. the main concern is that my dad is afraid that he said to the insurance company there was not any other drivers in the household which was false and evade rate increase. will this be considered fraud?

Okay there are alot of different answers on here so let me clarify how most insurance policies work.
Anyone your father gives permission to drive the vehicle is covered.
UNLESS: they live in the household and do not have their own insurance (this applies to your situation), they drive the car regularly, the car will be used for business purposes.
In these cases, the person driving the car must be named as an additional insured on the policy.
What happens next is really up to your Dad's insurance company. Most likely they will either deny the claim, or pay the claim but make your father pay extra for the last 4-6 months you've been driving. Either way, you must be added onto the policy.

Insurance goes with vehicles, not with drivers. If you were driving with his permission, you are covered.
If you are under 18 and live at home, you *should* have been added as a driver once you had your license, but nonetheless driving with his permission, you were covered.
Will his insurance rates go up as a result of the accident? Well, that depends on who was found at fault. The way you describe it, you were rammed, it sounds like the other persons fault unless you ran a stop sign or red light and caused it. If your dad's insurance company doesn't have to pay out, the rate will not go up as a result of the accident, however it *may* increase quite a bit when they add you as a licensed driver. Only your agent can answer the question with certainty.
In the mean time just make sure the insurance company has a copy of the police report, and let them do their magic.

Insurance rates are set by who drives the vehicle and how many people are on the policy. If you Dad claimed no one else would be driving the car, you are probably not covered for the accident. Your Dad "saved" money by not claiming you on the policy. It is not fraud because they will most likely not pay the claim. Your Dad could also be charged for allowing an uninsured driver to operate the vehicle.

It all depends on the policy. Just because your Dad may have full coverage, doesn't necessarily mean it is insured for everyone to operate it.
I recall when I was a young driver, my parents signed a waiver saying my brother & I will NOT be driving the car. (this was so their rates wouldn't go through the roof)

If your dad has insurance on the car, it's insured no matter who is driving.
