I am on a two-way street and I am in the left lane. When I arrive at the intersection, the light is green with a left turn arrow. The lane I am in is not a left turn only lane. Am I allowed to go straight through or do I have to turn left?

Technically you can get a ticket for changing lanes in an intersection but you cannot go forward on a green arrow only.

You can go straight if there is a sign up by the light that has an arrow turning left as well as one pointing straight on the same sign. This means that you may do either action. It also means that if there was a person sitting in the lane opposite you , they would have a red light at that time. If there is a sign that says "Left turn only" THAT is when you only need to be turning left. This is because the traffic that is opposite you can ALSO turn left at the same time. If you were to go straight, you would have a wreck.

Ok. As long as there are both a green left turn arrow AND a green light, and you are not in a left turn only lane, you are permitted to go straight.

If the only green light is a left arrow, you may ONLY turn left. If you're not in the left turn lane, you may NOT proceed.
