If no scientific tests have been done to prove either the existence or the non existence of a soul/spirit than it isn't right for a person to say that a soul doesn't or does exist because that would cause it to be absoulte

In the absence of evidence for something, the default position is that it does not exist.

Many attempts have been made to prove not only that a soul does exist but also where it exists as part of the physical body. None have proven the existence of a soul.
The scientific method requires that any idea or concept may be postulated and then the concept should be tested by experiment. The experiment is required to prove the postulate and to be repeateable by others. If the postulate cannot be proven it does not become a scientific theory even but stays simply as an idea.
Scientifically, the soul is just an idea which cannot be proven and until someone does prove that it exists it remains an idea.
It is impossible to prove that something does not exist so science does not bother. It can only say that the existence of a soul is un-proven.

There was a scientific test done, a scientist weighed bodies right after the person died to find out how much a soul weighs. I forget what the outcome of the experiment was, I'll see if I can find a link

well I don't know if I would really call it a "scientific" test exactly, but someone did try to show that souls exist by proving they have mass.

attempts have been made to measure the mass of the soul, assuming it departs the body at death. the mass is.... zero. within the limits of experiment of course. i'm sure everyone can conclude from that what they will.

in order to test the existence of a soul, one would have to have an idea of what it is or does. as you can already see here, there are various contradictory ideas in circulation: according to the definitions below, people have said that the soul is body, soul or spirit.

Did you mean the soul, or did you mean the spirit?

Body - The physical. Plants, animals and humans have it.

Soul - Your mind, will, emotions, etc. Animals and humans have it.

Spirit - The eternal part of us. Made up of the same "material" as God. Only humans were given it by God. Our soul will "reside" in our spirit once it leaves the body.

WE ARE SOULS, WE DONT HAVE SOULS. Read the creation story in Genesis. Dust of the ground plus the breath of God and Adam became a living soul. He wasn't given a soul.
