The USA really has no official language. But 30 out of 50 states has made English the official state language. Spanish is NOT the official language here. Spanish shouldn't even be on official documents! Why should we learn Spanish? They should learn English! I won't press anything for Spanish. Press 1 for English, Press 2 for Spanish ? or vice versa, people are being ridiculous here.

You are correct; the United States does not have an official language. Some states and municipalities do, I believe. (Personally, I hope that we never have an official language. English is already the language of power; there is no need to make a law about it.)

English is the defacto language of United States although there is no official language at the federal level.
Please correct your dad, There is NO official language. Ask your alderman, Senator, or Mayor of your town/city/village your family resides. They should be able to tell the truth.
But NewMexico has laws to have Spanish and English, Louisiana has French and English, Hawaii has Hawaiian and English as official languages. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

There isn't an official national language in the U.S.
But, look at the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, our currency (money), laws, Street Signs, etc. They are all in English.
You might argue that some of these things are now being produced in Spanish and other foreign languages==but foreign is the key word, is it not?

Your dad is mistaken. The USA doesn't have an official language. Although they did consider English and German, in the end the Founding Fathers deliberately decided not to establish one.
