It's good to use your brain, but if you never use your heart, what good is it? Why be so cynical? Think about how much happier you could be.

How can there be warmth in a heart that believes that there is NOTHING else beyond this plain of exsitence in the mind!! I don't blame them!! They need to take the time to research ouside of what the parents believe (that's usually where it comes from) EMBRACE THE ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER BELIEFS!!! This is what I would tell them!!

Being a former christian, then an atheiest, then coming back to the christian faith again, I can say I don't think I was ever cold...I was cynical, but that was because I was a teenager and they are almost all cynical...I don't think every atheist is cold...maybe just some that you have met. I was relatively happy as an atheist and I am even happier as a Christian.

Actually those who believe in a specific religion are cold. They usually believe everyone not of their religion will be tortured forever in a hell. Not very nice. They usually even sing songs about this horrible form of so called justice. Religions tend to make everyone who's not part of their view doing the devils work. Most wars over religion.

No religion has more than 30% of the worlds population, so by default 70% go automatically to hell if christianity is right. That's assuming all those who claim they are christians are saved? Few christians believe most other people who say they are christian will be saved. Will you be happy in heaven if your mom or dad or brother or son or some friends burn forever in hell? Why would a loving god do this?

Also you can't just make yourself believe something because it will make you happier. The bible doesn't seem worthy of the god it claims to represent. Its very contridictory and most of the stories are less believable than mother goose. Like a man living days inside a whale, getting knowledge from eating an apple, and superhuman powers from long hair.

We are not cold. And, I, personally, am generally very happy.

BTW, we DO use our hearts - the heart is a muscle that pumps blood through our bodies, which oxygenates our brain (so we can use it) and regulates our body temperatures (which keeps us warm).
There's nothing cynical about pointing out the fallacy of thinking that the heart is the source of emotions, like love. Emotions are created in the human brain, just like your idea of god.

Used to think that way, but now I'm starting to think that its not the atheists that are the ones that are so cold. I'm starting to think that its the Christians. I mean really. Think about it. They just get pissed because the Christians push God onto them. I can never think of one time that i was ever pushed by an atheist. EVER. But man have i said some pretty cold things to them. and i really feel bad about it. I'm starting to think that they do make a lot more sense then any thing that i was ever taught in Sunday school, in the bible or in mass.

Actually, right now I have a low-grade fever. I think I've caught a cold.

I do know what you actually meant in your question. Look at it from our "cold hearted" point of view. No matter what we say or do, there will always be some religious fundamentalist bothering us, threatening us, or trying to shove their "holy" books down our throats. We do not get "warm, fuzzy" treatment from others. If we would, I feel that many would reciprocate.

Because they reject all the Christians hot air? Some of the kindest, nicest people I 've ever met...people who have literally saved my life...are atheists..Atheists use their hearts plenty..because they know there's auricles and ventricles, and a muscular pumping system, not because Jesus and the holy spirit dwell there. Do you want to be judged as a Christian by the way Rev. Ted Taggart (sp?) behaves? Quit labeling people
..What would Jesus do?...He'd say "peace be with you"..not alienate you with questions to make you defensive. Be the Christ, for Christ's sake! By your example..........you come off as smugly superior, because you use your heart..and you assume Atheists don't....

Saying that a believer is happier than an atheist is no more to the point than saying that a drunken man is happier than a sober one.

All that aside, I'm very happy, and in a warm, fuzzy kind of way. "Coldness" is not an intrinsic property of atheism.

You dedicated 3 straw adult men fallacies. I question your carry close on good judgment and as a result your potential to make contributions to a functioning celebrity vacationing spaceship. I in basic terms won't experience risk-free in case you have been everywhere close to a spaceship which you helped build.

My heart is quite useful for pumping blood. Cynicism is a result of actually being there and seeing things happen, in my particular instance. I am o.k. why worry about me?

Are they?
My friend is an atheist, and he's the gentlest, most loving guy I know.
So what if he doesn't believe in God?
That's his opinion, and it's not going to affect me.

And sure some atheists may be cold,
But when you're bunching them all up like this,
It doesn't say much about your warmness, either.
