Why do people spend so much money on churches! Some spend half a million to a million $$ on churches! And only like I think it's 8% of churches donate to charities! Why don't they spend it on something more use full like feeding homeless, or helping those in need?

but what about all the starving people in Africa or children with illnesses or the homeless who can't get to a church! Instead of building churches build homeless shelters or soup kitchens or even more hospitals in Africa! Or maybe donate money to find a cure in something! There is way more use for money then building churches!

some of you are dumb! You think that churches help! Oh yeah they pay for surgeries in there church, but what about other people! I guess christians your answer is "lets pay for a non very important injury rather then feeding or helping staving to death people!" thanks you really showed me how selfish christians are! So I used to not like Christians on there belifs, but now I realize Christians have no morals! So I am sorry to all of those real good Christians but those who are selfish Christians ruined it for you! And by the way on 8% or so churches make donations!

Because maybe its their way they've been brought up and their faith. And only celebs and million ares spend that much. But then again it could actually add up to that it tides and offerings.

They use the money to benefit the church and community, Most churches use some of the money they get to help out the community or fellow church members.

Like say a church member Had a major surgery. our church will pay a bill for u for that month.
or and out reach program like a dinner for a poor or something like that that gives back.

I actually cant believe ur asking this.

Genesis 28:22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house;and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

Lev. 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd,or of the flock, evenof whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord.

Isaiah 6:13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten; as a tell tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves; so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

Churches do give to charities such a Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong. The offerings they take up pay the Pastor and utilities for the church as well a sother staff.
Many Churches have soup kitchens for homeless people and sometime shelters for them to stay in.
I agree alot of money could be used in many other ways but that is up to each church.

Dear Justme1994,

First i'm not sure where you are getting your statistics from. But i can't think of a church that i've been to that hasn't had a program to help the community, to reach out to those who are suffering and hurting. It is Biblical and the purpose of a church is to follow God and serve Him.

I think one of the key traits a Bible believing church should have is compassion for people. The purpose of having a church with a multi-million dollar budget is to bring people to the church- but also to send those people out to serve the world!

As a youth pastor my youth group supports: World Vision -- we do an annual 30 hour famine (where we experience what it's like to be hungry) and we raise funds to help children in 3rd world countries. We are involved in IJM which is an organization which helps to free teens who have been sexually exploited and sold by their families. And we do missions outreaches to: Tijuana, Indian Reservations, Inner city, etc. And we are a very small church who at times struggles to pay our monthly rent- though God always provides. We are also planning a trip to Taiwan to help out orphanages.

I think the key to your answer is heart! If we went and examined everyone- wouldn't we say- how could you spend $20 on pizza- when you could have used that money to feed a homeless man. There are more needs than probably resources- but you do what you can!

The truth is one day everyone will have to give a personal account to God as to how they spend their time, money, and talents, and i have seen churches do what Christ would want them to do. I saw many churches help out after 911 and the recent tragedies in New Orleans.

And so i think that the stereotype that you're portraying in your question here is rather inaccurate- and i'm not sure if it's based on personal experiences. i can just say the churches that your describing in my experience would be the exception and not the norm.

Some of the biggest churches i know are humongous about helping people: The Calvary Chapels, Saddleback church, etc.

i guess we can't have responsibility for anyone but ourselves- and i know personally i am devoted to doing everything i can to help others and to teach the kids at my church to do the same so they can teach that to others... Compassion and love for others is something that is inside-out...

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

i believe some churches do this in order to bring people into their community. for instance, if you go to a restaurant you wouldn't want a small place, whereas you could go to a nicer one. and yes, i know its wrong to think of a church that way; we should be open to any house of God or synagogue or what have you...but on the other hand some churches DO need to spend money on things like renovations and things so the church can withstand the elements and stay clean and nice.

It's because feeding the homeless or helping those in need meet people's physical needs whereas having a vivid church with activities, events, and services would meet people's spiritual needs. It is equally important to meet both needs.

because the pastor they dont understand the word of God

Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

some pastor they corrupt the word of god

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

because the Church shelters the homeless, feeds the hungry, and clothes the naked. that's why I give to the Church. is there anything wrong with that?

edit: don't call people dumb just because you don't understand what they're doing. who's dumber then?
