xmas is for people who want to take the real reason for the season (Christ) out of things and go for the easier methods. "oh it would be easier for me NOT to go to church, i'll just skip." ...just like that. i've never said Xmas. keep Christ in it ALWAYS :)

Basically during the 70's. It was much faster to write. Like RR X-ing instead of Railroad Crossing. If people are "saying" X-mas, they're just weird. It was the simplicity in writing it that created it. I think the slogan "put Christ back in Christmas" has been around the block so that people really aren't doing that anymore. katiefish <><

I used to not like saying or writing Merry Xmas. I thought that it was cheaping Christmas and taking Christ out of Christmas. that was until I found out that the chi and ro. the two Greek letters that are transliterated to give us Christ where often combined to form and X. so saying Xmas and Christmas are one and the same

I say whatever I want. Sometimes I say Seasons Greetings or Happy Holidays. Depends who I am talking to. I like Merry X-mas, too.

A symbolic issue from former controversies was usage of the term "Xmas", which many allege is a conscious attempt at removing the term "Christ" from Christmas.

most people that don't believe in christ say X-mas because they won't be saying christ in christmas... i have always said christmas, and i plan to keep it that way. i don't want to be like everybody else and follow a trend that is against the lord... its something that shouldn't be done

got to agree.. people are lazy.. it's sad. it is taking the Christ out of christmas - the reason we have the holiday of course. i don't say x-mas.

Because people hate Christ, even people who claim to not believe in God. That X in their minds negates the King of Kings, Lord of Lords. Which shows what fools they really are.
