around the end of the movie when Jesus & the discipiles are walking on the beach, Peter askes Jesus if they would wait for a man to catch up to them, Jesus said " What do you care about him." What did he mean by that? I thought that he would wait on anyone. Or am I just making a big deal about nothing?

Its a movie, it ain't scripture. Sounds to me that there has been some "artistic license" used here.
Read the Bible, don't base your theology on a movie.

This is John 21:20, it was Peter who said to Jesus that the disciple you love (John) is coming. Peter said "what do you care about this man".
Then Jesus talked about his second coming.

He wanted Peter to now concentrate on his ministry and forget about "What about him and what about that guy"
He wanted Peter to get on with it,which he did.
