Hi Yodadoc,
Humans were a split from the monkey evolutionary line. Both lines continued, and both lines evolved further (although I think the monkeys got the raw end of the deal).
It's kind of like Coke and Diet Coke. Diet Coke evolved from the Coke recipe, but Coke still continued.

Because its just like a bacteria or a virus. A virus can evolve into a more complex virus, but the old form of it will still be around, and the old form may even evolve into another type of virus.

The reason is because we didn't kill all the monkeys as we evolved, there is no reason that we would've in the first place
