i'm only 18, so i have no idea what my obligations are as a maid of honor. My best friend is getting married and she is only 18 as well. I know she's too young to be married, we've had that fight already, but she's not going to let me talk her out of it. Anyway, does anyone know any websites i can find out what i have to do for her? or does anyone know personally?
Thanks so much!

I was the maid of honor in a wedding that was last weekend. I attended two of her bridal shower and bought gifts for those as well as threw her a bridal shower, bachelorette party/ lingerie shower.....and gifts were included in all of those as well. Because her mother didn't want anything to do with the wedding I also helped her plan everything and oversaw every tiny detail. I ran errands for her, drove her around, anything she needed I was there. Because of the family problems, she was very stressed at home, so I also opened up my house for her and she lived with me for two weeks.

On the day of the wedding I took roses to the hotel they were staying at, paid for last minute items, and helped keep the bride calm. Any questions people had I answered and communicated with the catering staff and put out any little fires that arose.

After the wedding I picked up the wedding gown and tux from the hotel (they left on their honeymoon the next day), finished cleaning up the hall, and stored all of their gifts at my house.

This may seem like a lot, but remember you are the brides right hand girl and anything she needs help with that's all you. You may get a little busy the last month of the wedding, but just remember to have fun, and everything with go perfect.

you just ask her what she needs you to do help with the planning there is really no website to help you because when it all comes down to it you have to have experience.
1. get the guest list started so you can make ivataions
2. help her with the other braidsmaids dresses.
3. show her ideas for decorations and center pieces.
4. if she has a date contact a dj or find a hall to have the recipiton.

I'm getting married next month..tho I've past eighteen some years ago.... My maid of honor who is my niece, is not able to do the things she would traditionally be expected to because she lives too far away. My best friend stepped in and is doing everything with me...not because I gave her a title but beacuse she is my best friend and she loves me. Don't worry...she will be rewarded for her efforts and contributions!

Basically you are there to help her plan whatever she needs help with.

Also traditionally you are responsible for organizing the shower. So for that i owuld suggest getting in touch with her mom and any other bridesmaids and coordinating it together.

Try not to stress, just ask when you need help or have a question i am sure it will work out!
