Career planning is a deliberate process of knowing WHO we are so that we can be sure WHERE we want to go or WHAT we want to be at some defined point in the future. It involves an analysis of career/job options that are new to you. Career analysis is based on accurate, valid and timely information from --- reading, interviewing primary resources persons and direct observation of those persons while doing their job.

Try talking to the counselors at your college. Try talking to a top person at a company that you think you would like to work for... a rich source of information.
I know several electrical engineers who really spend their time doing client services or administration, or supervising on the job site.
Consider the real world applications. When you go to work, look around to see what other areas of expertise are utilized around you.
Actually, I think it would be a great idea to get a Microsoft Administrator (MSA) or Engineer (MSE) certification. I know that costs a lot, but it would make you more valuable and versatile in the job market.
