I'm an ex-Jew. Most atheists are ex-christians because they are from America and Europe, where that religion is more widespread and where they aren't stoned to death if they don't believe.

I'm an ex-Catholic, but to be honest, I never believed in any of it. The concept of gods always seemed rather ridiculous, and religion is just a method of control. Religion is foisted upon children to keep them in line. It works for a lot of adults, too.

I've never been a part of any religion. I honestly wanted to believe in Christ. I did too much research for me to ever believe in Christianity or that Jesus was a real person. Also reading the Bible made it much harder to believe.

many in the engish-speaking world are... insofar as they were raised by christians or by others who were raised as such. like for example my mother was raised in a catholic family and is now an atheist (though she identifies as a "secular humanist") and i was raised by her and an episcopalian minister (my father was also raised in a catholic family but cnverted due to the catholic's refusal to denounce the vietnam war and other reasons) but why are catholics seperated fron christians? catholics ARE christians.

I have no idea. I'm a formerly Catholic atheist, if that helps.

I doubt it. I think that they think they are self sufficient. Sadly however they just refuse to see the true glory of God. I can't see how anyone could.
