My church has an annual retreat coming up, but I have never gone because:
A) I feel that retreats are not necessary for a person to get closer to God.
B) I never have the money or have other priorities.
So this year a friend of mine in church is willing to pay for me and my girl to go. However, if we agree to take up his offer he won't be able to go because he is short on cash, unless someone gives it to him.
Also, my girlfriend doesn't want to accept my friend's offer because she feels that she would rather pay for herself since she can afford it. I'm undecided about the whole thing.
But what do you think? Also, if you were in this situation, what would you say if you were turning down this offer to your friend?

Retreats are not just to get closer to God but to also get closer to those of like faith (fellowship).
"I never have the money" is a poor confession, but since you said you have other priorities I am guessing that is the more accurate reason.
If you want to go accept his gift - if you really don't care to go, then be HONEST and tel him that it isn't just the money, but that you have other priorites.
Your girlfriend's answer to this offer should be just as honest., after all if you can't be honest with your brothers and sisters in Christ, where can you honest?

I would pray about it first, because GOD will let you know if that where you need to be. I myself don't go because that not where GOD what's me to be right now in my walk with him. I do pray every year to see if he wants me to go to our retreat, for me it not the money. So pray on it you will know if that where you should be and don't worry about the money because if you trust in the Lord all things are possible even money. And if you friend really wanted to go she would of all ready sign up with or without because that where she is with her walk with Christ.

if your girlfriend can pay for her self let her and you and your friend go on the other money. and all 3 of you have a good time . you will never be the same when you get back. so go go go go
