Sure, but I would be careful.
I work at a stealership and the manager hooks me up with trades- I sold 10 cars in two months one time (cutting the boss 30%) but I never put the cars in my name.
There is a reason you need a dealers license....just be carefull if you go all out.

Actually this is state by state question. You have to specify what state you live in.
I have a suspicion that you were to sell 4 cars (but in only one year), nothing will happen. If I had 4 or 5 cars in my family and I decide to sell everything to move to Australia, how can they stop me?
I think the problem would be if I sold more than the state limit year in and year out. And each state would have different penalties. Ex: in NYC (where I live), underage drinking is a joke (a bad joke) and nobody even blinks. But when I live in Maui, I remember they made a case out of one neighborhoods kid using a fake ID for alcohol..

i live in minnesota our #is 8-10 but the way to avoid taxes and a dealers license is to get a "bill of sale" and do not transfer the title and tell the original owner that you are purcahceing it for resale and just have them sign the title

I've never heard of that...I live in Wisconsin and there are some houses here that have like 5 or more cars for sale in their yard...!

i live in Michigan and sold almost 200 cars one year out of my house......as long as you dont jump any titles and you pay the state sales tax there is nothing they can say or do..they just want there tax money thats all they care about
