Because That is what they are planning on doing with all this new taxes and carbon foot prints to make you use less and less stuff and therefore you will soon be living in the time before Global Warming was created-gone will be long life and medical stuff ,computers, cell phone and all that stuff. Because that stuff adds to your carbon foot print. You would have to do with out air condition and other things that make life easier. That is what this Global Warming is about. Untill you can give up cars and other transportion and walk or ride a bike where you go and servive with out any mordern means that we were brought up to have (the older folks can handle this )
untill u are ready to give up everything to be green as Al Gore says which is not a true green lifestyle. If you want to know about a true life change that would work go talk to the indians-They honor mother earth and lived peaceful with her.

Actually it should be a good thing, not because its fun to do so or convenient for our environment, its because our society become so much integrated that everything we are doing is part of a set of predictions (human predictions). So if one of those prediction would come to fail us (like we are expecting to have electricity), all our society will collapse (if cannot recover electricity). So all in all, living too comfortably will make our civilization more vulnerable to externalities and reduce our chance of survival if such occurence...
So to exemplify it, if you buy an expensive car, and that tomorrow, oil supply stop, would your car help you to survived in such circumstances, I guess it doesn`t worth more than all the other cars that can have oil... So a bicycle will worth much more in this case, because you can actually use it!!
See the perspective? So tomorrow you removed internet, and electricity, and half of the world population die within a year or so, just because they did not learned to live otherwise!

There won't be any "going back". Things have changed. The resources are depleted and the population is larger than the planet can sustain. The good news is we get to keep all of the knowledge that's been discovered or invented since them. That's most of what is known. There would be changes, but not back to what we had before technology.

I doubt it will happen. The carbon footprint is one of reasonable ideas. The world is looking to the USA for leadership which isn't going to come. The government is determined to maintain business as usual as long as it can, and expand it's power, wealth, and influence. All that requires is to convince the American public to sit on their *** until the end, and act surprised. That isn't hard to do.

The earth is in ther process of vomiting out the inhabitants of it that wil not take proper care of it. Pastor Yisrayl Hawkins teaches us that the firmament which resides above us, protecting us fron the harmul effects of gamma radiation from the sun, is a thin layer made up of living organisms created soley for the purpose of doing what they are doing, protecting the earth. Scientist today cal this "firmament" the "ozone layer". The depletion of this firmament is do soley because of the sins of mankind geting greater & greater in the earth, specificaly, fornication, homosexuallity, beastiality, sodomy, & audultary; these are the things which are responsible for the ever increasing rise of mutating s.t.d.'s, and the ignoring & breaking of the LAWS of YAHWEH! Check this out: YAHWEH teaches us to properly dispose of blood by pouring it into the ground so that the micro organisms which are alive down there can reprocess it properly & naturally. Al the living parasites which destroy life are caried in the blood of animals & man. All the s.t.d.'s & other harmful parasites, including the drugs that were taken by the people sufering before thier deaths are al caried in the blood in the form of micro organisms. Where does the blood go after they draw it from the corpse at the morgue? Instead of being poured into the ground as YAHWEH commands, man, in his wisedom, does things his own way, & pours this blood down the drain to be "purified" in the drinking water system. These harmful micro organisms are tarvelling every where through the water system. Our water filtration systems are not designed to capture the resiliant drugs that have been pissed of into the water system, nor poured off through the blood. Mark in your mind that there are as many people alive right now as have ever ben born before hand in time past. Thats why this has never ocured before now. Now, consider the water reserves, lying open during the heat of the day for the sun to beat down on it & cause a certain amount of water evaporation. These water vapors then rise into the air to travel further into the jetstreams & on to the "firmament" above, where these s.t.d.'s, whose only purpose in life is to destroy life, ataches themselve to the living organism of the ozone layer & thus begins killing them. This is the true reason for the global warming, & "yes" if mankind wil not repent & turn from thier sinful ways, they will simply kill each other of until theres only a few left to maintain the species. We are so blessed that YAHWEH has given us Yisrayl Hawkins! His unique scientific mind to understand the complex things that make up life, & his unchalenged knowledge of YAHWEH & HIS HOLY LAWS makes him the GREATEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD!

That's a pretty silly thing to say. There's no reason that we can't reduce our carbon footprint AND still use modern technology. Researchers are finding out more and more every day about renewable resources like solar, hydro and wind power. These sources of power have NO carbon emissions and if people invest time and money into making these processes more effective and affrordable then eventually they could completely replace coal and oil as our main power source. There is absolutely no need for us to go back to the "olden days".

Al Gore is a hypocrite and an idiot.

If GW was "created" in 1900, what happened between 1900 and the mid 1970s when scientists were certain that we were going to have an ice age due to global cooling?

We don't hear about the normal cycles the earth goes through and Gore NEVER mentions about the reports from the mid 1970s.

well im from the country and sometimes i think itd be nice to live like we did in the old days life was alot simpler...but not because im worried about my carbon footprint...but seriously few people care enough about global warming to make serious changes like going without a/c and power...and i doubt with our medical technology theyre going to just forget everything we discovered just let people die i dont think chnges will be that drastic....i think theres a balance that everyone needs to find!

You are so poorly informed, it is almost sickening.

I'm half tempted to give you my login and password for the ASM website, so you can read up on research that is ongoing, to develop ways in which to use microorganisms to remediate greenhouse gases, as they are produced, and reduce society's carbon footprint as a whole.

Maybe you would like to give us a link where Al Gore makes the statements that you allege?

There are other ways of reducing Global warming without having to go back to the Ice Age...

That's not the question. Actually, it's the other way around. Monetary interests keep obsolete technologies in place, and, in some cases, hinder the development of new technologies. We are using old, and harmful, technology so that a few persons can keep making profits. Don't buy in to it. Why should we pay for their profits?

If burning fossil fuels caused global warming...

You'd have to go back to the way things were before people figured out that you could burn coal.

That means the allowed technology would be a club with a sharpened stone stapped on and maybe bow+arrows... Your fire to warm your lean-to would be made from wood... or cow dung.
