You should talk to a recruiter, but you should definitely be able to join! If you have a college degree, you could probably apply for Officer Candidate School--http://www.gocoastguard.com/dc/DCPrograms/ocs.htm as long as you apply before you're 27.

The overall score doesn't really matter as much. What was your General Aptitude (GT) score? Get that by combining the VE (verbal) and AR (aritimatic) scores. The ASVAB mostly works to determine what jobs you're eligable for, not if you are eligable or not. You should be fine with that score.

In any case, your best bet is to see a recruiter. They're nice, and just a meeting won't force you into anything. Go here and see where one is close to you: http://www.gocoastguard.com/offices/recindex.htm

Good luck!
