i am getting braces on tuesday and i am really nervous. i am afraid that my friends will treat me different and that guys won't want to be with me just because i have braces. i am also nervous cause i am going to a new school.
i am only going to wear them for about 1 1/2-2 years (the main reason why i am getting braces is that i have to get jaw surgery and before i do, i have to wear braces for a year).
1) if u had braces, did guys treat u different?
2) guys, have/would u be with a girl who has braces?
3) if u had braces did ur friends treat u different?
4) one of my friends, i have known since 6th grade, do u think should would treat me different?
5) last question, if u had braces, were u made fun of a lot, alittle or not at all?
i am happy that the school, i am going to, many people have braces or have had braces.

well, if your friends make fun of you, they arent very good friends. and if guys make fun of you then they arent worth it.
so what if you have braces. braces are cool. and when you get your braces off, think of the nice and perfect teeth you have.(that is, if you take care of them.) so dont worry what people will think. i have braces right now and nobody treats me different. plus, a lot of people have braces now, so you arent the only one. just be happy, because braces are expensive, and you are lucky that you have them.
good luck with the braces! =]

no... they shouldn't treat you differently because you have braces. most of the time i even forget that my best friend has braces and i always offer her gum and then she reminds me that she can't chew it. I had braces as well when I was younger and its more of a self consciousness than anything else. You may think that everyone notices them but the more confident you are the less people will notice. Just make sure that you brush your teeth after eating (start bringing a travel toothbrush and toothpaste) because food does tend to get stuck in the brackets, which is pretty gross if you talk to other people and they see it. Otherwise, its a totally normal thing and I'm sure tons of other people your age have braces or have gone through ortho treatment already.

It will not make a difference. You might have a slight dismcomfort at first especially when eating but you'll get used to it. The best thing about braces is that it will change your smile for the better. I had them for 4 years and I never regretted it. People did not treat me differently and I also had a boyfriend. Kissing will be a challenge though..=)

I had braces in Jr high onto high school. There are always cruel people at any age and any school. However, my friends were still my friends after I got my braces, and any true friend won't treat you differently because of braces. As far as guys go, my first boyfriend was while I had braces, so I think nice guys don't care. I was only made fun of (to my face)by my sisters, it wasn't funny then but now it is.( I was just as mean to them though) I don't remember anyone in school making fun of me because of braces, alot of people had them. Don't worry, do what your orthodintist says, especially brushing &flossing, and it will all go well. Don't forget to smile, you are beautiful with or without braces!!! Good luck at your new school!

Wow I actually read it all lol But girl im sorry to hear that. Guys could be such jerks, they know how to seduce girls easily. You've been through a lot I could see! Just be very wise, and try your best and not go into depression or suicidal. One thing for sure if its for the baby, if you will be pregnant talk to your parents about it. DON'T DO AN ABORTION. I know girls who have an were miserable for the rest of there lives. Just right now focus on school and your family. Your still young and one day that special guy who will fall head over heels in love with you(even with a baby) he will be with you. And will forget your past. Crap happens in life, life is not perfect. So hun I really wish you the best, try not to repeat the same mistakes. Your a smart girl.. Don't give up on life! Just live life to the fullest, enjoy it as much as you can. Try forgetting the past(I know its hard) but try. Start all over, have fun.. I really wish you the best in life. You seem like a strong young lady. May everything in your life go great! Blessings!! : )

I got my braces off a year ago. They were meant to be on for 15 months but because I did everything I was meant to (using the christmas tree brush everyday, wearing elastics when I had to) they came off after only 12 months. No one treated me differently. Lots of people have braces now. I hated them for the first week but then I got use to them. I now work at the orthodontist where I received my treatment!! Just yesterday a girl was meant to get her braces off but she didnt want them off because she likes having braces!! Dont be nervous!

I had them when I was in 7th-8th grade. So back then it would probably be different than now (HS). I don't know how old you are, but things won't really change. The only difference would probably be the opposite sex thinking you were slightly less attractive. Just remember you'll look awesome when you get them off.
1. Girls...not really.
2. Yeah.
3. No.
4. No.
5. Not at all.

You may take a little teasing when you first get them, but just laugh it off. It won't last long. I wore braces for 5 years. I had boyfriends and lots of friends. They never held me back. And now I have beautiful straight teeth for the rest of my life. It was worth it.

i had braces and no one treated me different. i also have 3 daughters all cheerleaders who have braces and they have had no problems with guys or friends. some people assumed they were rich because they had braces, and some were jealous, because they needed and wanted braces but their parents couldn,t afford it. don't worry, everything will be fine. also don't forget to thank your parents for letting you get them. they are expensive, and they are sacrificing to put them on you. good luck
