Then why are you asking about overdosing? You should take precisely what the doctor prescribes, no more, no less. And there is no "best" antidepressant, what works for one person may not work for another.

Zoloft pills are available at 25 mg , 50 mg tablets, or 100 mg. So How many pills is too much would depend on the strength available. Minimum effective dose is usually 50 mg and may be increased to 200 mg a day at maximum. Thus more than 200 mg would be considered not safe.

Have you heard about David Hawkins' case- murdered his wife? It was allegedly due to side effects of Zoloft- he had hallucination after taking 250 mg of it and strangled his wife to death. Another case was that of the 15 year old boy who killed his grandparents and was also linked as due to side effect of Zoloft.

Anyway, there is no mentioned amount considered as too much to be taken. So far, there is no any report of death caused by Zoloft overdose alone, but those reported death from Zoloft were all in combination with other drugs. The recommended maximum dose is 200 mg per day so any dose more than that wouldn't be safe and may be considered as too much.

This is really a question to consult with your doctor. I hope know one ventures a guess - as an overdose depends on a person's height, weight, age, metabolism, body type, etc. The only safe pill is one that is taken exactly as directed by a physician. There is no perfect anti-depressant - depending on the person - he or she may respond to one medication better than another.

I don't know about too many, but I was on Zoloft. I wouldn't want to OD on that, the one pill a day worked just fine, and with some of the messed up dreams it was giving me, I'd be afraid of what I'd dream if I OD'd. I thought it worked really well, and was rather easy to gradually stop using as well. If you don't feel it is working for you, I wouldn't do research like this. i would talk to your doctor and let them know how you are feeling, so they can adjust your dosage or try a different type.

Up to 200mg/day is a recommened dosage but depends on what your disorder is and of course what is prescribed by your doctor. Taking anything beyond what you have been prescribed would be classed as an overdose.

This is one of the last places to seek such information. Go to your pharmacist or doctor for that data.

Any amount "over" what you are prescribed is too much, therefore it is called an overdose.

A fatal overdose probably isn't freely advertised for fear that many will use such info to commit suicide.

NOTE: I had mis-worded the second sentence by inadvertently omitting the word "over".

depends on the strength. you should talk to your doctor about it. either way, you have to follow up with your doctor to decide if it's not the right medication for you so that he/she can prescribe you another one. you might feel better after a few days, but you may not see full effects until 4 weeks after you started the medication, so try to wait it out and see if it is the right med for you.

Just one pill of Zoloft or any other antidepressant is very dangerous. They cause permanent brain damage and should be avoided at all costs. There is no "best" antidepressant because it destroys people's brains!

Any more than you are prescribed is too many. THAT'S why a doctor has to be involved in the prescribing and titration of this and many other drugs.
