Your television still would work if you would like to get only your local channels in your area using rabbit ears antenna. You don't have to subscribe to cable or satellite channels if only you want is only local channels. You can buy the rabbit ears antenna at Best Buy and or Radio Shack.

Starting in February 2009, all television channels will be going to digital format (HDTV). This means if your television is analog and not HDTV or you haven't bought a newer television in recent months then you will need to hook up a converter box to your analog television to receive your local channels. The converter box will be release sometime in late 2008. At the moment the FCC is discussing how and when this converter box will be sold to the public. This way your old television would still work. Of course people will be able to receive HDTV Channels if they subscribe to cable or satellite services.

Since I get nearly all of my news and info off the internet, I seldom watch TV. When I do watch TV, however, I have a good ole pair of 'rabbit ears' which work ok. You will be lucky to get good reception quality compared to cable/satellite systems, though.

Yes, but starting in 2009 you will have to get cable or satellite, and try a store like Best Buy or Microcenter for them.
