Oh yeah! Just look at how well FEMA handled the Hurricane.....The government can't get their act together to do much but waste the taxpayer's money. Do you like what they spend your money on now? I sure don't....and that goes for Democrats as well as Republicans. Can you imagine what a mess we would have if they tried to get involved with religion.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
hmmm ... any "should" question which requires the scrapping of the numero-uno amendment to the US constitution is on very shaky grounds
the "we give" too much power phrase implies that "we" have this power to begin with. Perhaps a bit of rethinking would bring insight here

No. I think separation of Church & State is very important. There is not enough of it around at the moment as it is.
Even as a non-believer who would prefer others to be non-believers too, I would strongly oppose what might be the outcome of this which would be a lack of freedom for people to practice other religions.
Freedom is supposed to be so much of what this country is about. That includes freedom to believe in whatever you want - as long as you do not limit someone else's basic rights.

NO NO NO NO NO
The federal and state govenments have already intruded upon our private lives far too much. They have no business telling me how to teach my children, run my household, whether I should wear a seatbelt, whether or not I should smoke, or when and how to make love to my husband!
To regulate faith and religion would cause an overthrow of government.
In my opinion the sole responsibility of the federal government should be to protect our homeland.

A study of Biblical prophesy shows that the USA is the second beast of revelation 13, and it will eventually enforce Sunday worship. Enforced worship is the image of the first beast of REV 13. Papal Rome, who persecuted those who didn't agree with her dogmas during the dark ages in Western Europe.
The USA will force "all" to worship on Sunday at the insistence of both Catholic and Protestant Churches in direct disobedience of Gods 4th Commandment.
WATCH as it WILL happen VERY SOON.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!
The government is already keeping a 'big brother' eye in too much of our private lives as it is .
Note to Racist Rebel above: Please don't talk like that on here. There's no call for that, and it really isn't funny--in case you meant it as a joke.

let me ask you--Do you think the government would actually be CAPABLE of establishing a religion??
Another question--remember when they sought Jesus to make him king? what did he do? He HID from them! Jesus also wants for his followers to be in the world but no part of it.(see John17:15,16)
another question
were you joking?? please name me one political leader that could help improve anyone's relationship with the God of Heaven.
