The primary drain is lower in the valley of the block and this second drain is further to the left (facing the block). The std timing chain cover does not cover the drain. Has anyone heard of this? What kind of block is this? Have looked around to find a cover to fit but have not been successful.

This may be one of those predicaments where the oil pan has to be off. Install the timing cover and then slap the oil pan back on.

Just a guess but some are like that.

Good Luck!

A lot of times the rebuilders dont install all the pipe plugs where they need to be. If the oil galley hole is threaded and to the side of the timing chain cover, install a pipe plug in it. If you wish to use for an oil pressure gauge later on, its there.
