According to the 5 megapixel Polaroid i533 manual (linked below) your card can hold from 365 images at it's highest resolution and quality setting to 6,012 images at the VGA resolutions and lowest setting. See page 98.

It depends on the settings you use on the camera and the subject of your pictures. I have a 5.1 MP Fuji camera that I took on a cruise and I took over 600 pictures and some short videos on a 512MB card. Using that formula... I'd guess a 1GB card would hold about 1200 shots or the equivilant of 33 rolls of 35mm film (36 exposure).

Please note however, that I also had my camera set to a lower resolution of about 3 MP rather than 5.1. I don't need such high resolution for pictures that I'll more than likely will not require enlarged prints. I'll never understand why people get so wrapped up in super high resolution cameras when they ultimately end up printing 4X6 prints or looking at the pictures on a computer or video screen at 15% of their full size.

How many photos depends on what size (MB) the pictures saved will be. The more megapixels or bigger the resolution, the more memory that is used up. A real simple way to see is to check the average size (MB) that your pictures taken are, then divide that by 1024. That should give you a rough estimate.

Example:
Average picture size - 3mb
Memory stick size - 1gb = 1024 mb
1024/3 ≈ 341 pictures

As for what brand to get, SanDisk is usually the norm when it comes to brand of memory cartridges. SD Cards are usually cheap, compared to other memory, so just go with SanDisk.
