Well my prblem is this, i want to get my eyebrow pierced because i want to be indepentend from my brother and i like the way it looks... they think i'm stupid because of this. I feel my dad wants me to become more like my brother. They both have a lot in common with each other. They love cars, they watch the same shows and they can talk to each other about anything. I feel left out just because i'm different from the family. I'ts a typical hispanic family except for me. i skateboard, i listen to rock but i'm not gothic or anything like that. i'm not an outcast or do drugs. I'm just myself and my dad keeps on pushing me to do the same things my brother does and i just want to be independent. i skateboard for fun and i actually want to go to college and train to be a doctor. They just dont understand. I really want to show my dad that i'm different from my brother and i'm independent. i know when i turn 18 i'm getting like 3 small tattoos. So how do I show my whole family I'm indepentent

Just wait until you're 18 and do it. They HAVE to sign off for you to do it now, and it doesn't sound like they're going to change their minds. Tell them you are getting it done for your 18th birthday, that it was your decision, and that you have researched a safe place to do it (please do that!). They can't stop you.

do i smell some rebel here??sniff, sniff. Why do you have to prove to them that you are independent. Just live the way you are in now. Don't think to much what your brother is doing or his stuff are. You are a unique creature of nature. Nobody was born now, yesterday and will be born that will just exactly like you. See!? Just play the life your forming. Your Dad also wants the best of you. He thinks that the way he and your brother lives is just perfect. Well nobody can control anybody thoughts. As long as you're doing good and does not think about something that may really hurt their feelings your ok! Got it!?

Poking a hole in your face an ink under your skin isn't going to solve the problem. It will still be there when you're done.
Your father might not be trying to change you as much as to draw you closer.
Is being a "rebel" getting you some attention?
Do you like that?
There are better ways to grow up and be independent, if thats what you really want,
than showing off like this.

Piercing your body doesn't make you independent. It makes people think you're just trying to fit in with that crowd.

If you want to be independent, focus your attention on getting into medical school. If it was easy, then everyone would be doing it. Volunteer your free time in the hospitals or clinics in your area. Does anyone in your family do that? That's independent thinking and working to help you get where you want to go. (Experience in the medical field.)
