Okay, I have a disturbing thought I hope some one help me with. In the Ten Commandments of the bible, there is a law that says" Thou shalt no commit adultry " which I believe means ' don't have sex with anyone your not married to'.
With that in mind....

The Catholic church is against same sex marriages. I understand that in laviticus, there is a " don't lay with another man " law, but the law of the levites hold the same standing as God's law?
And
Wouldn't banning a marriage between two people who love each other encourage adultry? That being the case, what is truly inspiring this anti-homosexual legislation?

The conclusion I'm comming up with is quite disturbing....

Your thoughts please. Thankyou.

I think what inspires normal people to frown on same sex marriage is, well, they are normal. In order for a species to survive, exist, and continue the species they must reproduce. If we became a society of gays and lesbians, humans would die out in about a generation. That would not be good. Two gay dudes cannot possibly reproduce, so therefore it's not natural and not in the best interest of the species. In answering your question, it's not really a religious issue, but a natural one. Politicians just use the religion thing because it scares people and is more widely accepted than more logical and explainable things such as Darwin's Theory. A large majority of the population is still ignorant and naive. Natural selection will not select children of gays. Why is that? Because gays can't have children. By the way, I'm not anti gay. I have some gay friends and they are really cool. I'm just scientific and logical.

Yes, the Levities were the priests and law enforcers of the Hebrews. The laws (thousands of them) applied to ALL the followers of God. Now, Jesus came and said that the laws relating to eating were no longer relevant, however those were the only laws that he contradicted. Thus, the don't lay with other men is still to be followed.

I have mixed feelings about gay marriage, I see your point, I've had similar thoughts, but I can't get over that it wouldn't be right in God's sight... God's rules are in place for a reason, they often conflict with our culture.

The Catholic church and most Protestant churches cannot succumb to what the world says is ok. If it were left up to us, we'd ok everything that felt good. They are holding up God's word.

I really fail to understand why it's so hard to understand that homosexuality is NOT a natural, normal, moral or acceptable lifestyle. God's plan was and STILL IS for one man and one woman to come together in a holy union.

Homosexuality is never defined in the Bible in an acceptable behavior if it were practiced by individuals who had a loving relationship with each other. Homosexuality is always condemned. Homosexual acts are not natural acts and they are against God created order. As stated above in the article, male and female are designed to fit together -- in more ways than one. This is how God made us and he made as this way so that we could carry out his command of filling the earth with people. Homosexuality is an aberration from God's created order and makes it impossible to fulfill the command that God has given mankind.

Whether or not a homosexual couple is committed to each other is irrelevant to the argument since love and feelings do not change moral truths. If a couple, not married to each other but married to someone else, commits adultery yet they are committed to loving each other, their sin is not excused.

If homosexuality is made acceptable because the homosexual couple "loves" each other and are committed to each other, and by that logic we can say that couples of the same sex or even of different sexes who love each other and are committed to each other in a relationship automatically make that relationship morally correct. The problem is that love is used as an excuse to violate scripture. Second, it would mean that such things as pedophilia would be acceptable if the "couple" had a loving and committed relationship to each other. Third, the subjectivity of what it means to "love" and the "committed" to another person can be used to justify almost any sort of behavior.

The Bible warns against homosexuality. Isnt it odd that God created a woman for Adam and not a man at the creation of mankind? this obviously was done for a purpose. God said, "be fruitful and multiply." this means pro-create and have children. Homosexuality goes against pro-creation because children cannot be born from this. Therefore the Catholic church is not encouraging sumthing such as that just bcuz people want to go against God's law.

You make a very valid point about banning homosexual marriage leading to adultery.

It is in my personal belief that origins of banning of same sex marriage are political. Society has always been very "lineage oriented" hence most places in the world have had monarchies or similar governments at some point. When people speak out against homosexuality, procreation is often mentioned.

With more people not getting married these days, what does it matter. Gay marriage is about more than what it appears. The agenda goes much deeper than what you are saying. Besides that, it just goes against the natural. Being that God created us male and female, unique for each other, I will never support gay marriage even if it is law. People can do whatever they want. But I still have a right to my belief and vote. I'll use my rights as long as I can.

Adultery goes deeper than you explain it, but homosexuality goes not only against God's laws but goes against the creation He made. How is it you can 'love' someone but insist on having SEX with it? That is not 'love', that is pure evil. You have to examine the SPIRIT behind what the 'flesh' is doing. This includes not only homosexuality, but beastiality as well. Both are ABOMINATIONS.
BTW those committing an abomination are not only killed, but their bodies burned. Hence, when judgement comes, you will be TOTALLY destroyed...period. It would be better for Sodom and Gomorrah than it will be for you. Repent now while you have a chance.

HI Odidmar,
Well I'm a catholic. And I'm also straight, I'm a woman and I love men. I think it has to do what's in the bible. But my thought on same sex marriage........... If two people that are of age, love each other and want to get married. They have my blessings. I don't think that the government Or strangers have the right to tell others whom they should marry, whom they shouldn't.. As long as they're both of legal age.The more power to them.

All sins are offenses to God. So it matters not whether or not it is the abomination of homosexuality or the covenant breaking of adultry, they are all reprehensible to a holy God.

Also, having sex while not married isn't adultry. It is fornication, which is also forbidden.

God standard is moral purity. You cannot blame him for the actions of people who are acting purely out of lust. Lust is our issue. He encourages it not. In fact his rules (laws) are there to help us not have the problems that come with acting selfishly.

as per say, think of all sexes with the same. no man and woman couples. what would happen to society? no children being born wouldn't that mean gay life is "dead" sure the people live until they die but no children means no life cycle as we know it today.... God never said man should be with man and same for woman to woman. morally it's not right. it's a dead life. and it is an abomination unto God for gay and lesbian lifestyle to exist. God promises us everlasting life through Jesus Christ. eternal either way it's "your" choice. Everlasting life in heaven with the Father or total separation from God in hell for eternity and my friend, eternity is a very very very long long time time to be without "anything". read John 3:16 before it's too late. accept Jesus Christ as you personal savior and have everlasting life.
