Juddering?? Let me consult my dictionary of car noises.... Ahhhh yes, hesitation accompanied by skipping?? Does this sound right? If so then I suggest you have the fuel filter replaced as well as the spark plugs and the air filter. This should clear it right up.

Not much to go on but here's a place to start.

It sounds like the transmission fluid is low a quart or two or three. If it's a manual/stick-shift then the clutch might be slipping and needs adjusted.

If it's the engine it sounds like the fuel pressure is dropping from an old fuel pump that is dying.

Otherwise, I'd do some routine maintenance like clean the throttle body and check the air filter and check the spark plugs and clean and re-gap or replace them. And, of course, make sure there is oil in it.

Good Luck!

Not neccesarily the clutch, But if it is then dont pay the £300 pounds that a garage will charge, I got qouted that for my escort but phoned a company called mr clutch and got it done for £140 with a 30k warranty. It could well be the idle control valve sticking, Try some injector cleaner and as also stated change the plugs and filter. Do you have it serviced regulary?

that's the clutch going, i'm sure of it. if you keep driving it i gaurentee it will go very soon. get it to a garage as soon as possible. don't plan any long drives this weekend. when the clutch goes you won't be able to get it in gear. you are talking 300 plus to get it replace. are you having problems with the gears, if so that's a definite sign of a nagger clutch.

the juddering in acceleration from low speed are also tell tale signs. i know from experience. it happen to me twice
