I'm sorry about your breakup. It sounds like your cat was trying to comfort you if she was standing up to touch your face. But cats are very mercurial, and you may have made a sudden movement that startled her. Or she may have heard a noise elsewhere in the house that caught her attention and she felt was important--like someone opening a can of food.
Cats are not the most loyal of animals, nor do they need others around them. Cats may benefit from interacting with people, but unlike dogs, it's not a need.
I'm sure she will come back to you and be affectionate again.

Cats are loyal cuz they are royal
like the king of france
with ants in his pants
they you will buy a rat
and it will make you fat
like a barney bear
eating a pear
and then a worm will eat your fern
and the fern will die
like apple pie
and you will die
and you will talk on the phone with you great aunt Beatrice
and she will be eating rice
from a red barn
OH DARn
and then you will lick a cactus
and thats a factus
and you will spit on the rug
and you will get mugged
then you will sneeze on an apple
and you will buy a Snapple
but you will spill it
and you will get bit
by a ferocious jumping bean
and it will be mean
and you will hop into town
wearing your pants upsidedown
and then you will steal some papertowels
and a wooden dowel
and you will make a sailboat
out of a goats throtat
and then you will read this rap
and your back will snap!!

Your cat did show you affection. She touched your face gently. The cat doesn't know that she is is supposed to stay around until you feel better. Perhaps she left because the sound of you crying frightened her. Cats are very caring animals, but like people they have different ways of expressing feelings.

that's just cat behaviour. she doesn't hate you. as far as a cat is concerned, human beings are only on the planet to open cans of food, open doors, and scratch the chin or behind the ears. no other involvement is required. I once saw the cutest cat T-shirt. it showed a man opening the can off cat food, and the cat was sitting on the floor watching him. the bubble over the cats head was, "I hate you. now feed me". cat's don't hate us, they just "own" us.
cats aren't as loyal as dogs, and it sounds like you could really use a good pooch right about now.

My cat does the same thing and it makes me sadder. When I am crying I want him to stay by me and help me feel better but instead he just stares at me for a little bit with this look on his face like he cant figure out what my problem is then he puts his butt in my face and walks away like he is too good for my emotional meltdown. She doesnt hate you but I think they think they're too good for us sometimes.

Don't over do the thinking about what your cat means, she's a cat and she does cat things. Hate has nothing to do with it.
Just talk quietly with her and treat her nice. Sometimes they want to comfort you, sometimes they're not knowing what it is you're going through. She's a cat,she does what a cat does.

No, she doesn't hate you. Cats are just "cats" - sometimes they'll be with you so much they drive you crazy, other times they come around when THEY feel like it. It seems she tried to comfort you, but since you were unable to be comforted, she left. I'm sure she'll be back soon.

I was told by my counselor that animals are only afraid that you are not going to feed them anymore...i think differently, I think that they do sense fear/anger/sadness, but they are very moody animals....im a dog person :0) I do have a beautiful indoor cat and she will rub up on me and love on me when her food bowl is empty :)

If you are in school, please see your counselor and tell him/her that you are sad and have problems.
Your cat does not hate you, your intense upset has probably frightened her. Please see an adult for some help in solving your problems.
