You'll have a very good command of the language - in terms of reading, writing, and probably spoken also.
The ability to write well and speak with a rich vocabulary in particular will open many doors for you. It's actually quite rare for someone to be able to communicate effectively and vibrantly. If you also possess a good personality and work hard, you can obtain a job in many fields and rise up the ranks as a manager or other position with responsibility.
You probably won't get a job as an accountant or engineer, or other profession which requires a specific degree or license, but there will still be an unlimited number of positions you'll be able to hold. Most good managers and decision-makers are in those positions because of their intelligence and personality, not necessarily because they hold a specialized degree.

You want to get a degree in English, but have no idea what to do with it? Sounds like you need to do a little more research.

Most people that I know with English degrees get a second degree in something else that is employable (Business, law, etc) and never work in a position based solely on the English degree.. Maybe you should consider a double major?

It is good that you are asking now, but make sure you have a plan before you graduate. A degree is just a pretty piece of paper if you don't have a plan on how to use it.

Good Luck
