My sister wants to send him a camera and film, but I don't know what we are allowed to send. Does anyone out there know what we should or should not send?

Germany is a very modern country. Spent 27 months there from 74-76. There is nothing he needs while in Germany, nothing. Electronics are cheap at the PX. Clothes are plentiful on and off base. They have commissaries on base and grocery stores with everything you can get here off base.

If he deploys he can tell you what he can't get.

Send letters, emails if he has access and pictures (hard copy via snail mail)

If hes in Germany he can easily get his own camera and film over there. In fact these days a digital camera would be the way to go.
Try sending him more personal things, newspapers from his hometown, maybe even record your local news broadcasts so he can keep up with things going on in his hometown.
Maybe even make a home video of all his family and friends saying hi and giving him a update on whats going on.

Doesn't he have an APO address? My son was there for 4 years. He was stationed in Mannheim. He had a beautiful apartment in Heidelberg. I spent 2 weeks there. Go visit if you can. Just ask him for his APO address. The package will go directly to him.

A camera and film shou d be O.K. My dad was carreer military. We sent al sorts of things to his APO Box. Unless your son is in a combat zone, he should be able to receive anything that can be sent in the U.S. mail.

Check with your son to be sure. He can find out.

A digital camera would be a better choice.

But basically if its legal in the states, its legal there.

Restrictions are pretty obvious, such as hazardous materials and ammunition. Same things you wouldn't mail across the city.

Send him anything you want really. You can check the usps site for specific restrictions on what you can't mail.
